Hopefully he can agree on personal terms :)

Very talented RB and considering Moyes track record with these types of signings, precisely the signing we need to improve our right side. Plus he can also play LB too if need be :)

Come on Kyle!

Best news of the Summer so far. Forget all those Defour rumours and what not, this is the best signing.

Spurs trying to jump in on this now (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_5431224,00.html).

Hardly surprising, he's the most promising RB in England!

I think Naugthon will know he would be better off at Everton - better defenders along the rest of the backline him who are less injury prone and at a younger age (Baines, Lescott, Jagielka) and without too much competition at his RB spot (Hibbert is decent, but there's not much else is there?). Add to that the fact that while Spurs aren't ultra-fickle with players, Moyes has built a reputation of getting the best out of his players and sticking by them, so long as they are loyal in return. Also, iirc don't you guys and Spurs have similar wage structures? So them offering much higher wages shouldn't be a huge problem either...

Also add in that only Villa can really argue to match you guys outside of the top 4 in the last few years.

Found this link elsewhere. Seems like we'll know about Naughton and Walker (http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/sport/Everton-ahead-in-race-for.5464992.jp) by tomorrow.

Doesn't sound good.

Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Everton to the signing of both Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker from Sheffield United. The two right-backs will join Spurs this month in a deal worth a total of £8m, despite Naughton having been a long-term target for David Moyes.

I'm disappointed if this is true, they'll rot at Spurs.

Don't know much about Walker at all, but Naughton will have really done himself a disservice if he goes to chooses the bright lights of Lahndan over a much more solid footballing outfit who on average finish higher and are more consistent than Spurs, as well as having considerably more player loyalty (both to and from the players) and far, far mroe managerial stability.

I don't even see how there could have been a considerable difference in the wage offers - Spurs are a little bit of a richer club than you guys, but isn't most of the financial strife you guys had in Moyes' earlier days out the window? Usually both clubs offer £20-40k wages, iirc with Spurs a little more likely to stump up to £50-55k (but I doubt they would have on a youngster like Naughton). Just strikes me as odd...

So from looking around at various sites, the rumors I’m finding are the Naughton really would prefer a move to Everton, while Walker (basically the throw in on the deal) wants to go to Spurs (but also wants to play with Naughton). The most recent rumor is that Walker will sign with Spurs in the next day, but Naughton still hasn’t.

I have no idea if they have the money (please don't get rid of Lescott) but Naughton, Rasmus and Cana would be good additions for this year.

Damn it ... I'm getting suckered in again ... we won't sign any of them now. :(

The news I've been getting from various sources say that Naughton and Walker are both going to Spurs.

Yeah all the broadsheet papers have said both Kyles have gone to Spurs.

Oh well, that's their collective mistake to make... whatever about Walker (King/Woodgate are glass men, and I've never been too sold on Dawson) Naughton is a fool for turning down Everton.

Especially since they still have Corluka, Chimbonda, Assou-Ekotto, Gunther, Bale and Hudson as well. Why do they need two more fullbacks?

Because they love to suander opportunities. Between Corluka (forgot about him) and Dawson backing up King/Woodgate, plus Chimbonda/Hutton at RB, all they needed as a good, experienced LB to teach Bale how to defend and they were sorted across the back imo. Up front, Bent/Keane/Defoe/Pav is plenty enough, two #9s (one big-ish, one small) and two #10s (one big, one small).

What Spurs need is an experienced LB, a 'destroyer' type of DM with discipline (to allow Palacios to roam and help protect Modric) and a left winger to play opposite Lennon, as Bentley doesn't fit. They don't seem to have even glanced at any of these positions and instead are looking to build up areas they are already stacked in, instead.

Typical Spurs...

EDIT: They sold Gunter to Forest for £1.75mn, iirc...

They're probably one of the most inept teams, managerially that I have ever seen. They seem to attract good players like Modric, and it will always remain a mystery to me why. All I can think of is that they're in London.

'Arry doesn't seem to want Corluka at RB, and he doesn't rate Hutton. Gunter is off to Forrest, and Chimbonda is gone as soon as we find someone to take him.

Every Spur ITK still has 'Arry interested in Vieira for the DM position (Please.God.No). Bentley is as good as gone, too. Also for the CM/DM position I've heard they were looking at Capoue and Sissoko, both from Toulouse.

Up front, I expect Bent to leave (Good) and Pavlyuchenko (Stay.) To be replaced with...........Peter Crouch.

Left winger has gone from Ashley Young to Robben and now to Petrov. You have me on the LB position, though. No idea why 'Arry doesn't see that needs strengthening.

My apologies for this Spurs related post.

It's not official, but my mate in Liverpool said that Naughton has 'begrudgingly' accepted the offer from Spurs as Everton weren't able to match the bid from Spurs.

Basically Sheffield United and Tottenham have conducted themselves terribly. You expect it from Spurs but after the Tevez saga you'd expect Sheff U to conduct transfers amicably. They accepted a bid from us and the player agreed terms. Tottenham then trumped our offer, and Sheff U refused to let him speak to us further until we matched the bid. We couldn't and so we've lost out.

I'd be ashamed as a Spurs fan, but this is nothing new...

Ok I just saw it on Sky Sports News, it's been confirmed that both Kyle's have joined Tottenham.

I think its a big blow for you guys as Kyle would have given you a potential starter at RB and if not that then a very reliable backup. Anyway Spurs are a big club with major ambition and we have a manager who is really in tune with the players. These 2 kids will grow into great talent along with John Bostock who could make some appearances this year.
