Total bizarreness (is that a word?) in the Mexico-Panama match. Both teams already had a man sent off in the first half when in around the 70th minute Javier Aguirre, the Mexican manager, attempted to trip/kick a Panamanian player while he was running down the sideline with the ball still in play. The Panamanian player pushed Aguirre, got sent off, and then refused to leave the pitch for 10+ minutes.

Awesome.:D

looks like Ribery may goto Liverpool. that should be a big dent in Man Utds morale.

Since when does Liverpool have that kind of money? I thought Bayern wanted 75m or so, and Ribery also said it was Real or nothing.

Oh, Jermaine, will you never stop living down to our expectations?

From The Fiver:

"I wanted to come to Spain and I had offers from important teams in Europe, but joined Real Zaragoza" - Jermaine Pennant endears himself to Zaragoza fans with his first utterance upon signing for his new club.

Players should be banned from kissing the badge of a club until they have been there 2 years, i just saw an interview on TV where Mercedes Benzema talks about kissing the RM badge because he was "full of emotions".

Disgraceful.

Ha, Mercedes Benzema. I'll have to shuttle that over to the french boards for ya :D. And yes quite disgraceful, especially coming from a Lyonnais leaving OL. He lyon shirt isn't even cold yet.

Didn't realize he grew up in Lyon - that is disgraceful. He'll fit right in at Real.

Knowing how Real operate with their marketing etc. im pretty sure they've all been told to kiss the badge when presented to the crowd. Maybe not tho as I dont think Kaka' did it. Im sure they are encouraged to do it though

This would've gone so much better with the title of the last "other teams thread"...but oh well...

Flamini doesn't want to play full-back (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11854_5426347,00.html)

Although I would take an Adebayor for Flamini deal any day, part of me can't help but laugh at him and think "well, that's what happens when you move away from something great at one club just for 10k more per week from another club"

We're overrating him - he was in a contract year and played his heart out for a new contract. There's no guarantee the same effort would have been forthcoming the next year. And besides, what's to guarantee he doesn't pull the same stunt again? I'd consider taking Hleb back for the right price (5-6 million) because Hleb's performances were consistent for the time he was at Arsenal, and because we could sell him for 10-12 million again if he played well - never Flamini though.

???
This makes no sense. Hleb was anything but consistent for one. He was at times very effective, and at others, utterly useless. He started 07/08 with goals and assists, but after the first couple weeks he barely got a single one for the rest of the season. And we don't need a Hleb player, we need a CM. Flamini was in a contract year, but a contract year doesn't magically transform average players into stars. He had to do that himself. He worked very well in our system, and has the tools that we need. Hleb is the ice cream eating c*nt that f*cked off to Barca just because he thought he was getting big. Flamini was out of contract, so you can't really hold leaving against him. We aren't overrating him, just 2 years ago he knocked Gilberto out of the starting lineup, formed a partnership with Fabregas that got the maximum out of both players, and was a key ingredient in the team that had a short stint as the worlds best club team (in my humble opinion).

England football star David Bentley was punched in the face as he sat in a restaurant with his heavily pregnant fiancée.

:Doh mann... call it juvenile, but that is hilarious. A good punch in the face is just what Bentley needed.
