Oh my God. If the NLD is ruined by Tommy Smyth...

Don't even want to think about that. If anyone reads The Gooner they have been publishing the results of their fan survey. One of the questions was for worst TV pundit or commentator and Tommy Smyth got some votes...

Setanta is dead. I wouldn't be surprised if they completely shut down the US operation next year (seeing as how they probably won't have the money to bid for 2010-2011 rights in the first place).

But they'll still be good to have on my channel lineup this season.

It's good to have for the rugby games, and is another channel to flip to when I'm bored, but at the end of the day the only thing I'll really miss is Special 1 TV.

Standing by ... but isn't the draw at like 5 a.m. Central time? I don't really function until around 9 a.m.

* No word on Celtic Champions League qualifier on Aug. 18 or 26, but I have to guess those will be on FSC. Pretty sure FSC couldn't be happier with the draw. 2:45 p.m. ET

* EPL Talk confirms that ESPN2 is the channel for the early Saturday and Monday afternoon matches that Setanta used to have

Wow- that is a LOT of matches on FSC.

And I'll be interested to see how ESPN2 pulls of their matches- my hope is that they will simply plug into the Sky broadcasters and spare me Tommy Smyth.

Celtic matches will be the 18th and 26th.

No confirmation yet, but it seems likely that Arsenal at Celtic will be the Fox Sports Net match on August 18th at 2:45 ET.

Some/Most/Many regional sports channels will be showing the match, and virtually all "Fox Sports Net" channels, and it will be in HD (unless there are technical problems).

( Of course, if your RSN has a local pro sports game at the same time, they will undoubtedly show that game. )

ESPN UK has hired Jon Champion, who was laid off from Setanta when Setanta Sports UK shut down.

Champion will do pxp for the Monday EPL matches on ESPN UK and ESPN2 US. He will be at the stadium. Don't know who the analyst will be yet.

Champion will also do the Saturday August 29 1245 London Time (0745 New York, 0445 Los Angeles) match for ESPN UK and ESPN2 US.

Celtic - Arsenal is now showing in the Aug 18 time slot at 2:30 ET in the listings of a New York Regional Sports Network, so we can take that as a confirmation of the obvious.

Man, I'm pised that so many games are on FSC this year. I'm moving and won't have FSC starting next week (not to mention I'll be missing the season opener because it's moving day). I'll have to either get up and go out some place or I'll be streaming a lot of games.

The schedule on the website of Comcast Sports Net Bay Area (San Francisco) shows " UEFA Champions League 09-10 " at 11:30am Pacific Time on 8/18, so they will be showing the game.

Note that if concern about U2 forces the Celtic match to Wednesday, then it will move to Fox Soccer Channel.
I expect that the decision about U2 vs Celtic is delaying the Fox announcement of specific schedule informatoin.

The local police has no issues with the match at Parkhead on Tuesday 18 August.

I expect FOX to turn on its hype machine to billboard Celtic vs Arsenal on "your regional sports network, check local listings" (at the request of Comcast, FOX no longer uses "FOX Sports Net" or "FSN" in promos of national backdrop programming) during FSC's Chivas-Barcelona match on Saturday.

On which Cablevision (Essex Co. NJ) channel would the Celtic game be?
