eh... i like a small portion of it.

But why should I care about how many cars, ho's, and guns some rapper has?

In New Jersey in the states. It's pretty underground over here, but people like it. I just love the beat to "Turn the page."

Idk, I'm getting sick of the American rap. It's the same shlt over and over. I'm listening now to Spanish rap and there's some French rappers that aren't that bad.

I've been a big fan of MC Solaar ever since he appeared on Guru's Jazzmatazz. Excellent flow.

I would probably be considered a backpacker, though I like some mainstream stuff too. Kanye West's "College Dropout" has been on heavy rotation on my iPod, and I've been enjoying The Black Album (although I didn't give it a chance until listening to The Grey Album). But I can't stand radio - the crap to decent ratio is about 99:1 right now. The Ja Rule vs 50 feud is Israel vs Palestine of rap; you can't root for either side without a significant amount of reservation.

I apologize in advance for the off-topic branch here, but I can't let this go...

In the words of a great American prophet, "ENGLISH, MOTHER********ER! DO-YOU-SPEAK-IT?" Jeeeeeesus.

Why do people think we all want to listen to their rap when they are driving around in their cars ? What is the deal with that ? F'kin turn it down or wind your windows up - it sounds shyte and does not impress us !

Thank you.

I like old Dre and Snoop, but the rest of the crap you named is a shortlist for most mass produced and overrated albums of the year.

Old School stuff is so much better, I'm just putting together a CD for a party I'm off to tmr night, and here is the listing so far

Wu-Tang Clan - CREAM
De La Soul - 3 Is The Magic Number
Eric B & Rakim - Microphone Fiend
BDP - South Bronx
Method Man/Redman - The Rockwilder
Jay Z - H to the Izzo
EDMP - You Got's to Chill
The Streets - Fit But Don't You Know It (tho all guys out there - d/l this song!)
Eric B & Rakim - The R
ODB - Baby I Got Your Money
De La Soul - Me Myself & I
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control

That's not in any necessary order, or the final, list, ubt it's a shiteside better than what you listed at the start. I'm also making a CD with the likes of Massive Attack, Keane, Turin Breaks & Snow Patrol. Someone else can bring the dance, since I only like a few dance tracks unless there's a great DJ and I'm twisted.

Jurassic 5 - Quality Control is old school hip hop, but the song is only a few years old.

NO JAY Z SONG IS OLD SCHOOL, his last album was good, but there is no way he is old school.

Yeah, that came out wrong, I know that list above isn't all hip-hop and I personally can't stand Jay-Z, but a few people asked me to put that on (and the it's not too bad a song with some alcohol in you). My point was that this guy seems liek somebody who only likes what's hot now, as in he is a trendy. He needs toi check some older stuff to get more appreciation.

As much as I like Jay-Z's last album, he never really fulfilled the promised he showed in Reasonable Doubt. I wish he was more consistent -Blueprint was good, Blueprint 2 was absolute garbage- but he dumbs down for his audience, which I guess is his prerogative.

Yeah, Blueprint 2 was horrible. I still regret ever wasting money buying that ablum.

Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, NWA, De La, Digital Underground, Afrika Baambaata, EPMD, Run D.M.C., Eric B and Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Biz Markie, Grandmaster Flash, Snoop, Dre, and others are old school, and their stuff still sounds great even now. I never really considered Wu Tang as old school, maybe because they started up in the early 90s.

And the Wu Tang Clan are one of my favorites. I have just about everything they ever released on CD. I also really like the Roots, J5, Outkast, Eminem, Missy E, Queen Latifah, Dilated Peoples, Black Eyed Peas, Plastilina Mosh, Cypress Hill, and lots of others.

Anyone like Italian rap? Gemelli Diversi (different twins), Articolo 31, Frankie Hi NRG MC, 99 Posse, Almamegretta? Good stuff.
