oh, and believe me i am down for any/all ideas. i am a fairly experienced traveler. i have slept under seats on a ferry, spent a night homeless in stolckholm, and bribed my way through 2 counties. ok the last part wasn't a way of cheap travel, but it sounds cool.

Interested in going but can't fly and wondering if anybody might be willing to carpool? I don't have a car but willing to help pay gas & other fees (food).

Hope to have a permanent job by then but wondering how much the whole trip might cost...tix + car trip + hotel...for the weekend?

I was looking the trip up in yahoo travel and expedia, and with flight and a hotel it was like $250 for one night and $300(+/- depending on hotel) for two nights. i'm guessing it would be cheaper with a carpool.

if people are carpooling, could i get in on that action? unfortunately even though i have a car i don't trust it on long trips anymore. but i can contribute gas and whatnot! plus i have traveled on that road before, since i use to make trips out to Colorado via car. to SLC from LA it will be like 10 hours...but there is a stretch of road where you can go fast without fear of tickets.

if you guys will be at the viewing on Saturday i will be there if you guys want to talk about it. i'll be the girl in glasses.

oh also i heard tickets will go on sale mid-july and the head haunchos at AO arelooking at good hotles to stay at, which is cool cus i'd like to stay where a lot of AO are staying.

The cost to rent a car is like 165 bucks for the entire trip, since some of the days are weekend rates etc. I'm driving with my GF, but we are kind of making a Bryce Canyon trip out of it too, so carpooling with us is not an option. Priceline was my best bet for hotels, I got the little america for 55 a night in downtown SLC. One more thing, check to make sure the rental car company you are using will let you leave AZ, NV or CA. As far as we have found, Enterprise DOES NOT allow you to leave these 3 states.
