For his hard slap in the face of DaMarcus Beasley at the 5:55 mark of last Saturday's DC-Chicago game on ESPN2. What he did was at least as bad as what Frankie Hejduk did against Zotinca, and Moreno wasn't even provoked. Not only that, but after connecting with Beasley, sending him to the ground, he takes another swing at him, because you know what, he might still be there! Kevin Stott didn't even see fit to call a foul, but to me, this was a red card offense. Wynalda reported "there was no intention there", and Stone meekly agreed. Bull manure. There was a lot of intent, and there could have been serious damage done to Beasley. Moreno doesn't deserve to play this week. I certainly haven't read all the copy on this game; has there been any discussion of this play?

As I remember the play, Beasley was poked in the eye, not slapped. Additionally, Moreno was looking forward -the direction he was dribbling not behind him where Beasley was following closely. Not that a foul couldn't have been called, but it didn't look like he was swinging at Beasley. I haven't seen the MLS notes for the week and don't know if this play was mentioned.

As far as suspension, that would be up to the league. Since it appeared that Stott saw the play, I don't expect more. I also wouldn't be surprised.

I think Harkes said the same thing (no intent) this week about Edson Buddle kicking at a ball that was pretty near head-high and kicking another player in the face. I thought, at the time, that it was clearly a foul regardless of intent, and (assuming I was right) wondered how someone with his experience could make such a comment. Apparently, it wasn't an isolated incident...

A few corrections
It was not stott it was valenzuela. 2 if you call that a intentional play then we need to put everyone in bubbles. I was talking with someone that was at the game and they said the team (chicago) did not even responde to the play.

YOur telling me that this is worse the the Jaqua Elbow on Petke?
