I have some ideas for new threads: Who's more popular, The Rolling Stones or Mick Jagger? Led Zeppelin or Jimmy Page? Queen or Freddy Mercury?
:D

Probably. But I once saw a few political posts of his that weren't very well-thought out, so I'll call him whatever I want.

Yes, and no.
Lennon (like Paul, George and Ringo) put out songs after his Beatles days. They just weren't as good as George's or Ringo's, let alone Paul's.

I know that.
But Lennon's death meant the death of the Beatles -- they would never ever reunite. When he went, so did that dream held by many. They were bigger than he was.

Ya, I guess if you're not a supporter of a European style safety net you're ideas aren't well thought out. :D

IMO that dream would have been dead if any of them had died, not just Lennon. Maybe -maybe- they'd have been able to rehire Pete Best and tour again if Ringo had died, but I doubt it.

Of course. That's why it's absurd that Lennon is listed as a seperate entity. They're all the same.

mebbe John Lennon, because some wack job killed him, qualifies to be considered as a separate category.
Lennon's popularity derives, at least in part, because his life was ended prematurely. we wonder how he might have turned out, like Hendrix, for sure, and to a somewhat lesser extent, Jim Morrison. you can say who's more popular, Jim Morrison or The Doors, can't you?
