Do this season's UEFA Cup winners qualify for next season's Champions League?

Is there still a 4 team limit from each country that can play in the Champs Lge?

Any help most grateful.

Yes, there is still a 4 team limit for the CL.

Newcastle is 4th now in England and minght still qualify for CL preliminary round.
Marseille is 6th in France and needs a miracle to finish 3rd (12 points with 5 games left).
Valencia is 1st in Spain and is almost certain of at least 3rd place and has good chances to finish inside the top 2 (and so qualify for the 1st round).
Villarreal is 8th in Spain and can't qualify for the CL any more.

NO. Aside from the CL champion, CL teams are determined on league position only

I don't know where to like this or not.... The champions cup used to be a cup of only the best teams from each country, now major countries get 4... And also the UEFA cup is less meaningful, as it was the only way for teams struggling in their domestic seasons to get into CL. In my opinion, the UEFA champion should qualify for champion's league.

But if the UEFA Cup champion can't finish near the top of their league, then they aren't one of the best teams!

Well,the 3 Intertoto Champions advance to UEFA Cup,this is true.But the UEFA Cup champion only plays UEFA Super Cup(UCL Champion x UEFA Cup Champion).Last year was Porto x Milan,and...1x0 for Milan.

Like,the spots in Italy are like that:

1st and 2sd:Qualified to UCL;
3rd and 4th:Qualified to UCL 3rd Qualif. Round;
5th and 6th:Qualified to UEFA Cup;
7th:Qualified to Intertoto Cup;

Ther's also a UEFA Cup spot given to Coppa Italia champion.Since this year(and it's common too)both finalists fight for spot in Serie A,Udinese and Sampdoria are fighting for the last spot in 7th position.

Little countries like Faroe Islands or San Marino only have 1 or 2 spots,probably to 1st or 2nd UCL Qualif.Ony Spain,England,Italy and Germany have 4 spots...(and I don't know if this is really true)

Thanks for the info, I've always thought uefa winners goes into CL, and thats why I said to my friend why some of the uefa semi-finals teams didnt concentrate on their league matches as much as the uefa cup..

Valencia is Liga champs, so they are CL bound anyway.

One thing: some teams get special invitations to the UEFA Cup (not the CL) and guess what: their league position may not matter. It's some form of fair-play award or something.

IIRC Villareal last year were not top seven in Spain. Rayo Vallecano was not top seven when they were invited to the UEFA Cup a few years back. Racing Santander also benefitted from the special invitation once.

Villarreal was not invited. They were 1 of the 3 winners of the Intertoto Cup. Vallecano indeed was 1 of the Fair Play participants that year.
