City's new website launches today at 9.00 AM UK time although some content is up at the moment if anyone cares to check.

It looks impressive at 1st glance. :)

Some details from Vital Manchester City site who along with others were given a preview on Monday.

* The company who designed the site began working on the idea way back in November 2008. A total of 10 staff worked tirelessly to get the site ready for launch.

* There will be an Arabic language version, plus three other languages - at least one will be in Spanish.

* The club was not prepared to tell me how much they have invested, but it will have cost an absolute fortune.

* There will be no site adverts.

* No other sports website ANYWHERE in the world will look similar. This is totally groundbreaking.

* There will be no fans forum. Vital Manchester City, Bluemoon and two other independent sites have been included on a links page. Certain forum messages including our own will feature on the clubs main page.

* MCFCTV.com is history. The club will allow free radio match day commentary for everyone to enjoy.

* If the match is played at 3pm on a Saturday free video highlights will be available by midnight on Sunday.

* You will be able to move front page features around the page, IE if you want to drop a certain feature, you will be able to do so.

* Pre-season friendly (South Africa). If no broadcaster takes the games live, the club will try and show the games via the site - live and free!

* Reserve & Youth team games may become available either live or match highlights.

I have posted a couple of further articles below give you all flavour of the site, new features and thinking behind it.

In keeping with true City tradition, the site went up, and then promptly down again. I wasn't able to view it as I have been at work--other than the explanation and apology banner page that exists in its place now, that is. Perhaps a hosting issue stemming from the strains of site views en masse? No doubt it will be up permanently in it's new splendor shortly. As always, looking forward to when we work out the kinks and impress the world.

Well worth the wait, indeed. I agree it is one of the best I have seen and leagues (pun intended) ahead of the Rags' and Pensioners' sites. The new video area is alone worth a top mention.

Still a few bugs to be worked out over and above the initial downtime of the site (what a the bit of PR embarassment that was) but all-in-all a very good start to my evening. I am especially looking forward to the fan comments section. I hope they expand that interconnectivity.
