Do you have pubs that have Fox Soccer Channel in Vancouver? I want to try to see the US vs Honduras game on July 8, 2009 when I'm travelling there.

I doubt FSCW have the rights to show the game in Canada, just like they don't show the MLS games.

Sportsnet is carrying the Canadian Games, and GolTV Canada is carrying one game, the El Salvador-Costa Rica match. FSCW doesn not have the rights to the games here.

GolTV Canada is carrying most of the games live so it should be on.

I have both DirecTV and Telus cable. (unfortunately, it's temporary) I can tell you that Gold Cup coverage on DirecTV is much better. Between FSC and Galavision, you can't miss a Gold Cup game live. I wanted to watch Canada play last night, and on Telus, it was only available on SportsNet, which I guess isn't covered in my 100+ dollar monthly package. So, I had to watch it on Galavision. Amazing that living here in Canada, I have to go to a US, Spanish-language station, to get coverage of the Canadian national team.
Tonight I wanted to watch US-Honduras. Again, I could not find it live on Telus and ended up watching it on FSC from the US feed. But, FSC in Canada did not show the game. [Rant over.]
If you're downtown, then the Library Square pub on Georgia Street is soccer friendly as is the Irish bar at the corner of Robson and Granville about a block west of the library.

Gol TV Canada (which should be called TFC TV for the endless repeated content they give us) coverage has been rubbish. The host from Toronto comes out and tells us which teams are playing, then they cut to the game where two commentators are doing play by play somewhere in a studio, not live. The halftime coverage has been a recorded interview with people from TFC and their memories of Canada's Gold Cup win of 2000. They simply replay it each game. Then when the game is over we get the host from Toronto simply recapping the score. Thats it.
As for Fox not having the game in Canada thats because it's a separate channel, one that is not very good, nowhere near as good as the American one. We don't get the coverage of tournaments like this or MLS coverage because they don't have the rights in Canada. They do have the rights to show USL-1 games, but even then a couple of times this year we were treated to replays of crappy teams on crappy pitches (does anyone really want to watch a rerun of Cleveland and Austin) when there were live games being played in Portland being shown on FSC is the US. Instead on our Canadian version we got some stupid man's talk show on in the time slot.

I found the game at "The Keg" on GolTV in Gainsville Island.luckily the clientele don't watch sports so I got the channel changed for me.
I couldn't hear the audio but didn't care w beer and free homemade chips :)

The Keg on Granville island is lovely. You had a steak right? How was it? I remember them as delicious.

I ate at the Granville market and had a salmon roll and a jalapeno cheese sausage dog... but I got free chips at the Keg :P I left Canada to go to Seattle since I got hassled at the border, then again on the way back. Was planning to go to Whistler, but decided to drive back earlier.

Ah, good call. The Keg can be expensive, but the Market is great.
