With whats sure to be an exciting time in the rumour market for Chels fans from now untill the kick-off for next season, perhaps it would be better to have a specific thread to post in.
Lets start off with this gem.

Petit to Norwich? (http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,46-1132593,00.html)
Pay as you play - LOL
Somebody has their thinking cap on @ Carrow Road eh?
Would be a great player for them to pick up, but, as was so often the case with us, what's the use of having a crock in the team?

No more Veron?

This is a tough one.
The man has great talent, that can't be denied.
However, he's been in the Prem for some time now and we're still waiting for a run of consistant form from him.He hasn't had any luck this year with his injury problems and all, but, he did have an injury free run at United and can hardly have been said to have been worth his price in the transfer market.
Given that the money issue is, well, not an issue @ Chelsea, is time now going to be called on the Veron experiment?
Personally i would like to see him given one more season to shine.

.
I think we need a midfield leader. A general. Veron will never be that for us. Veron is riddled with psychological weakness. I think for 100k a week we could get better. This is a player who has been under achieving for 3 years now. Get him out of the team and you create a space for a Nedved, a Zidanne or a Beckham, etc. A player who can cut the mustard.
What players do we need? Need, is a strange term at Chelsea this season. I say we need to buy 2 new defenders. A RB who can perhaps also cover in the center of defence and also a central defender. I think Huth should go out on loan.
I don’t think we should loan/sell any of our English lads; Parker, Joe Cole, Johnson, etc. Joe Cole & Parker I’d keep in the squad most definitely. Like Johnson they are at the core. The backbone of extremely talented young English players. They shouldn’t go anywhere.
Petit
Melchiot
JFH
Bogarde
Petit
Stanic
And some goalkeepers
Smertin
Desailly is likely to call it a day, he’s been very obstreperous lately
Geremi – just hasn’t worked out has it
Gronks – with the arrival Robben and another winger, he’s way down in the pecking order
Veron – 3 years of mediocrity in English football, we know he’s good, but I honestly feel he’d be happy playing in Italy or Spain
Mutu I’d keep, especially if we sign his mate Chivu :D
Always thinking that, IF we get a new manager/coach he may well have his own ideas about who he does and does not want. According to the Mail on Sunday Jose Mourinho is the new £5m-a-year manager of Chelsea, with his appointment to be confirmed within the next month.

Agreed on that.
Letting him go just for the sake of letting him go because he's failed to live up to potential is not the way forward, imho.

Begs the question of whether it would be a step backwards doesn't it?
New man, new ideas, new players.
Back to square one again?
Perhaps so i suppose - however, we have a core of players that even a new manager would have to be daft not to play as regulars in the side - thinking along those lines itmay not be such a step in the wrong direction at all.

Well, I think I'll spell out needs, or potential needs, since it eliminates the need to go back to work for a bit.
Even if a new manager comes in, we pretty much know who it is that we need. Btw, one of my concerns about Mourinho is his "gamesmanship". When I've watched Porto they dove more than Greg Louganis in his prime. I'd prefer my team not do that.
1. A right sided midfielder. For the love of God. Joaquin and Beckham are the two natural choices here. I saw Beckham for Real today, and he looked good. Did dive a couple of times, but hopefully coming back to England will knock that out of him. Plus, he'd finally give us a real threat on set pieces.
2. A right back for cover. Melchiot's a good squad player, but......he has occasional moments where he looks awful. We're grooming Glen, so we need someone more experienced at the moment. My preferred choice is still Javier Zanetti, but there are other options out there. Sagnol from Munich, perhaps?
3. A new CB, if Desailly retires. Samuel or Chivu from Roma are the likely targets.
4. A new striker? Mutu has been disappointing, JFH is almost sure to move on, Gudjohnsen has been inconsistent, Crespo is injured a lot..........if we can lure a name like Henry or Sheva to the Bridge, I think we clear out one of our other strikers.
5. Hey, why not start looking for cover for RM already :)

hey y'all thought i might add my 5 cents worth.......we need a goalie...i know cuducini is injured at the moment , but Ambrosio doesnt look good at all ...... i think he needs to shoulder a fair bit of the blame with monaco, 2 of those goals should not have gone in.........anyone got any suggestions as to who they think would be a good replacement??

AND we've still got the lad from Sunderland, Jurgen Macho, once he gets over his ACL. Don't know how good he is but he can't be a lot worse than Ambrosio. Having said that creamed rice boy has had a few decent saves... but has co!cked up a few other ones.

Good grief, this is what I imagine it would be like to read Veruca Salt's Christmas list. ;) Just messing with you Nic. You know us Gooners are jealous and frightened of the players you could guys could bring in over the summer.

#4: What would you think of getting rid of Jimmy and adding Alan Smith? He should be available and cheap and young and have a lot to prove. Alan Smith in a Chelsea jersey? I'd hate it, but I'd love it.

AND we still have Lenny Pidgeley out on loan - hasn't he been the England U-21 keeper this year? I know he was the U-19 GK for awhile. AND we picked up a 19 year old keeper from PSV last summer - Yves Makaba Makalamby. He sat on the bench a few times during Ambro's recent tenure as our #1.
Sully and Ambrosio should go and even then we still might have 5 GK on the books. I think Macho only wanted to come here if he was at least thr #2 with a chance to compete for #1. Maybe he'll change his tune this season.

Cover until Glen is ready to play. We'd need Zanetti for 2 years. I wasn't suggesting he sit behind Glen Johnson :)

Erm, ah, well.....can't stand him. He's got some ability, but if we bring in anyone other than Forsell, we should do better than Smith. That, and he's a red card waiting to happen.

Smudger? No. Forrssell is easily better than Smith.
Apparently Birmingham hope to make an announcement about Mikael Forssell's future soon
It seems that we are getting rid of Claudio for under achieving. that being the case do we keep the under achievers Veron and Crespo?
Or do we release them and sign Beckham and Ronaldo?
Or do we release them and get Nedved and Owen?
etc, etc,
do we get rid of them and create the space for a proper midfield general and a total goal scorer.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has had an ugly training ground bust-up with team-mate David Bellion. Maybe he would like to join the Chelsea and play with his buddy Beck-Ham?
