View Full Version : Heavier traffic expected into DC tomorrow ?

Hi all,
Considering this weekend’s events in DC (2 rallies, plus that kickball game they’re playing at RFK with that kid I’ve read about), does anyone out there in DCU Nation believe that traffic on 395-North/14th Street Bridge/295 will be heavier than usual ?
Mind you, the "speed" of traffic crossing the bridge is a relative thing. No jokes about spontaneous parking lots now.
I'll be leaving Alexandria at 1:00 to stop for ice for the Screaming Eagles tailgate and pre-game dance-a-thon. I hope to get there by 2:00.
Any advice welcome.
Adler
PS. Thank you, Pat Tillman. Godspeed.

The main rally against the IMF/World Bank will be Saturday at noon starting at Franklin Square at 14th and K Streets, NW. The protesters plan to march to near 18th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, where the IMF/World Bank buildings are located before returning to Franklin Square, where the D.C.-based group Mobilization for Global Justice plant to hold a festival.

I vote we send these directions to the Chicago bus driver and tell him this is a short cut.

Oy, you had to remind me!
At least he made up for it by standing on the brakes every couple of minutes.

Where do they find those guys?
Southeast Freeway should be pretty good, but the 14th Street Bridge? Who knows?

gwaddamm that was fast. uummm, not REALLY in the parking lot. but the friking train up here got me all sorts of discombobulated, then drank a bottle of wine w/ the girlfriends dad. so why come the first time i come to DC this season there has to be like 37 different kinds of shite going on to possibly make me late for the game. besides the DC stuff, there is girlfriends family stuff, and i am suddenly quite concerned that i wont get to RFK till 5:45.
maybe i should start walking from silversprings now.
and ******** wine, my head is gonna explode :(

What's happening at FedEx, and when?
Once again, one of the young'uns has a 12:45 game, so we won't be leaving until 2:00 or so. Last time we walked in right at kickoff - at least we have an extra hour today. I hope we can park somewhere near the BB and hang with our homies. ******** these ESPN2 early kickoff games!
Will abortion bring out as many people as cherry blossoms? There is an abortion/cherry joke in there somewhere for someone with the creativity to think it up at this time of day...

They're expecting upwards of 45,000 for the NFL Draft
I agree about these frickin' early games. Bring on the 7:30 games!

!
Yea but the Redskins draft about 1:00 pm or so. After that, they won't have any more Day 1 picks. I won't be able to leave until about 4:00 (from Crystal City) and I'm not all that worried about getting there on time.

If you're taking the Metro from Crystal City then you should just breeze in. If you're driving then you might have to deal with the idiots that "Run" the parking lots.
We're playing it safe. 1:00 arrival, 1:05 fire up grille, 1:06 crack first suds of the day, 1:07 kick soccer ball around 1:10 repeat 1:06 :D
