If Henry is on a different level why didnt he score a hat trick against Man Utd or Chelsea?

Football does'nt work like that. Scoring all depends on the state of play and how the game is being played. There are also so many other factors, like how the mood of the player is in that day. And, could there be good opertunities to get the goals?!?!?

For example, Henry could score 2 goals against Liverpool but may not score any against a team like Blackpool, a second division team.

I think carlos tevez is one of the best players right now but not the best he is still developing. Same with Kaka. Nedved is very good too and can compete and show well with all these men. But there should be no one with the title world's best player. Everyone has bad and good days and has a different style of play. If u stick a good deffender on any of these guys they could all be taken out of the game.

No doubt about it, HENRY is the best in the game.

Where is Totti?
If I were to pick one player to start a team right now it would be Totti.

It doesn't exist such thing "best player in the world" but if I had to choose one I'd say Totti.

if I need a goalkeeper I wouldn't buy henry, zidane or totti being them whatever you want.

Henry is not the best midfielder in the world
Ronaldinho is not the best defender in the world
Totti is not the best goalkeeper in the world
Zidane is not the best forward.

All of the players are very talented; but when it comes to henry, he is a step above the rest. this guy led a counter attack, from a corner from the opposing team, which ended up scoring. he is a danger in the midfield and in the front. he has got to be the best player.

But where is he during the big games???

Zidane is by far the best player in the last fifteen years. He has both the tangible and intangible aspects of soccer. I think that was most evident at the 2002 World Cup, France couldnt do anything without him at 100%. The same France team that had Henry. Dont get me wrong, I think Henry is a great finisher, but I think if he went back to Italy and played forward, he wouldnt score nearly as many goals as he does in England. There is no way he is a level above the guys mentioned on the poll.

He single handedly destroyed Roma and Inter Milan but noooooooo he wouldn't score in Italy.

I dont understand...

Are we basing the poll on just this season alone? Or last years included?

Are we establishing at this very moment that the best players in the world must be flashy and must all play attacking roles??

Are we asserting that all 4 picked players have had or have a solid career?

Is it their current form that counts? National team expertise??

Notice that each of these questions either exclude 1 or more person(s) from the pole or, brings to the mind certain biases that the consensus has involving 'best players'. Not to mention that every name considered either has a French or Latin background, which in today's game is not always the case.

Okay. If it is "at the moment" then why isn't Totti, or Gerrard on the pole?

Gerrards not there yet, maybe if he performs at Euro 2004. Vieira would be a more obvious candidate for best combative midfielder. My vote is Zizou, he's still untouchable and will be the difference in Euro.

I am confused by why only a few people have discussed Ronaldo. He scores more often than Henry (without taking penalties), comes up huge in big games (CL last year v ManU, WC final, etc.) has better skills than Henry, is faster and quicker than Henry, can shoot better than Henry - why aren't people seeing this? Zidane is still amazing but can't do it every game like he used to be able to. Ronaldinho is quickly rising to be among the top players in the world (as is Kaka), but still can be marked out of games sometimes.

Also - I forgot - Henry builds up his goal record with a lot of goals against mediocre teams - Leeds, etc. They count just as much as any other goal, true, but when you need a goal in a crunch situation; France in the WC, Arsenal in the CL v.Chelsea, he isn't dependable, while Ronaldo is. At the same age, Ronaldo has done much much more than Henry, will continue to do so, and will go down as one of the generation's top players, alongside Zidane.
