Alright, the SEs have agreed to bite the bullet and at least print up oh say 500 song sheets for the Nest sections in the hope that if we're all singing that those around us will hear and join in (and we'll work with the BB/drummers to get some better coordination but I leave this task to those on the aisle, pick out some leaders between the groups and drummers and the rest willl follow). My task this afternoon is to type up our chants and songs and unfortunately neither the SE or BB websites have them listed so I can easily copy (I know the SE site doesn't and I couldn't find at the BB if it's there,if so send me a link).

I want a comprehensive list of the most popular ones (don't need to be family friendly this is for our sections) and most importantly the Spanish language ones. I'd like to get this off to my copy guy by 2 pm so if you could post here ASAP that would be cool.

Mucho thanks

Kim, that's great. I was wondering if there was any thought in coordinating a supporters group cheer and having prompting for the fans to join in.

Say at around the tenth minute "DC United clap clap clap clap clap clap"

Let's do some singing, eh fanatics?

**************

We're all part of Nowak's Army.
We are out to win the League.
And we'll really shake 'em up
When we win another cup.
'Cause United is the greatest football team!

***************

Care-free.
Wherever we may be.
We're the fanatics from DC.
And we don't care a damn
Whoever you may be.
'Cause we're the fanatics from DC.

Caaaaaaaare-free.
Wherever we may be.
We are the drunk and disorderly.
And we don't care a damn
Whoever you may be.
'Cause we are the drunk and disorderly.

**************

Couldn't score in a brothel,
In a brothel,
In a brothel.
Couldn't score in a brothel
In a brothel, couldn't score.

Note: substitutes for brothel, depending on the opposition: Crewzers, with Heidi Fleiss, etc.

********************

Dale, dale, dale, dale oh
Dale, dale, dale, dale oh
Dallllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeee,
Dallllllllllllleeeeeeeee, ohhhh.

*****************

Lo.
Lo - lo.
Lo-lo, lo-lo, lo-lo.
Lo-lo-lo-lo, lo-lo-lo-lo,
Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo
U -ni - ted!

***************

If I had the wings of an Eagle.
If I had the arse of a crow.
I'd fly over (location) tomorrow.
And ******** on those bastards below.
So:
******** on,
******** on,
******** on those bastards below, below.
******** on,
******** on,
******** on those bastards below.

***************

What's the excuse gonna be this year,
Metros? Metros!
What's the excuse gonna be this year,
Scum? Scum!
What's the excuse gonna be this year?
Uni-ted's got nuthin to fear.
From New Jersey, New Jersey, scum.

****************

Can you hear the Empire sing?
no-Oh, no-Oh.
Can you hear the Empire sing?
No-oh, No-oh.
Can you hear the Empire sing?
'Cause I can't hear a fuggin thing!
no-Oh, No-oh, No.

Substitutes for Empire are too many to list -- use your imagination.

From Washington and RFK
We're gonna get drunk tonight!

They know we're in the right!

So fill up your cups,
Your lovin cups.
As full as full can be.
For as long as love and liquor last
We'll drink to old DC!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Iiiiiiii think we need another drink!
[refreshing pause]
Iiiiii think we need another drink!
[refreshing pause]
Iiiiii think we need another drink,
For the glory of old DC!

Note:
The lead in can vary for a day game, e.g.,

From Washington and RFK
We're gonna get drunk today!
Security's afraid of us
They know how hard we play.

So fill up your cups ...

I know trying to coordinate with La Norte has been talked about (wasn't there some thread last year?) and the team would like to see maybe something on the scoreboard that all could join in. Personally I'm not a big fan of scheduled cheering, it's hard enough getting the SEs and BB all on the same page and we're right next to each other.

Thanks for the other list, I will add what I can (sheet is getting full).

[snip]The easiest way to start would be to post the National Anthem on jumbotron preceded by "everybody sing!"

The second chant could be shown on jumbotron as follows:
<-- DC
UNITED -->

[arrows pointing to side of stadium that should respond]

How about "A - Du" to the tune of "Hey Jude" by the Beatles. You guys could at least pull off the "Na na na na, A-Duuuu" pretty easily.

If you have room, I'd suggest listing the tune to which the lyrics are sung. It will help people join in a lot faster.

Yes, done. I have a one sided sheet and we should have around 500 copies for the Nest and will pass around elsewhere if extras (if anyone wants to volunteer to help pass around, find me at the tailgate). This is just a start and I had limited time here at work so if anyone thinks they want to make another version with more or different songs, have at it.

First time I've seen all the songs together. I fully understand now why opposing teams hate coming to RFK.

I'm watching Leverkusen/Dortmund right now, and the crowd has been chanting non-stop. But they have been chanting the song "Brazil" nearly the whole match. And once Franca scored, I think they finished the half out with it. They did it again for about the first 20 minutes of the second half as well. Something this simple and this cool could get the crowd into it, especially if they don't know any other chants. A simple "Na na na na, A-Duuuu" for 10 minutes when he gets subbed in is brilliant!

Thx,

Jay!

No problem. What you'll find out is that simplicity is the name of the game.
