This guy was one of the hardest hitting DBs in the league, an exciting player to watch. He turned down a $3.8 million to join the army after 9-11...we lost a brave and noble soilder today...

What Tillman did when he joined the armed forces was a very admirable thing. Very few people would give up the lifestyle he had to defend this country and try to make the world a better place. Many may argue with why he was in action - but it takes nothing from his choices.
May he rest in peace.

Tillman was a monster on the field. He wasnt the most talented guy but he played his heart out.I remember the season before he joined the Cards played the Bears. He terrorized the Bear recievers and had double digit tackles that game.
Pat tillman -A Great American, he was a hero and should be rememberd.

Anybody who puts his love of his country over money deserves our respect.

He was local (Leland HS, San Jose). Not very big (6'0, 185), but played sports with heart. Was a huge football and baseball star locally, and was also an honor student in HS and at Arizona State. An amazingly heroic decision to enlist. This is the worst news I've woken up to in a while.

His brother Kevin is in the same platoon.
That's gotta be tough to see that happen to your brother.

A warrior, a hero, and a badass in the truest sense of the words. RIP
Many may argue with why he was in action - but it takes nothing from his choices.
He was killed in Afghanistan, not Iraq, so I don't even think you could say that. :(

**MOD NOTE**
This thread, due to the manner in which Tillman died, is inexorably going to be too politics-related to remain on this board. I'm going to close this thread, and leave you a link to the related thread in the Politics board, where you can discuss it if you so choose. Thanks for creating this thread in Tillman's memory, but there's no way this topic can be talked about without the war becoming the theme.
