....when a waiter in a restaurant in Salt Lake City strikes up a conversation about the US win because I was wearing a US jersey.
....and I am turning a co-worker onto the sport because I was so passionate during training while streaming the game on my computer. We actually stopped the training for 25 minutes at the end of the game so that we could finish watching the game.

Its kinda sad that our victory is far bigger outside of the country... I am not surprised though. I hope ESPN radio (The Herd and Mike & Mike), Rome, World Soccer Daily, etc. start to give the USA some credit, especially WSD.

...when i'm received several texts form non-soccer fans congradulating me on the big win.
no offense but personally i couldn't give a rats ass about what WSD (or FFF) have to say about our national or the sport in general for that matter. last i read steven cohen has had a bunch of sponsors yanked because of his lack of cred. could all be rumors but i can't stand that guy. plus i'll be damned when an englishmen tells us whats wrong with our national team!
However i am concerned with the ESPN stuff. it would do wonders for the sport if they actually did some analyzing of soccer on shows like The Herd, Mike and Mike, Rome, PTI, 1st and 10, Cold Pizza, Around the Horn, etc they're all the same damn show anyway! Differentiate will ya! Problem is they dont know siht about the game.

Which is why they don't analyze the game... Would you rather hear analysis from people who have no idea what they're talking about or hear nothing so that the casual observer doesn't get the "wrong" information?

Also I didn't realize you were on the team! Are you a reserve? :)

they dont know hockey so they have barry melrose analyze it for them during SC. same could be done with soccer. although one could argue that if they don't know jack about the biggest sport in the world, they are probably overpaid.
and to tear a page out of Tracerbullet's book: Jim Rome can E.A.B.of.D!
