Bloody hell... Aberdeen's beleagured manager pulls out the kind of result that'll keep him in the job for the next couple of years regardless of how bad things get in the near future.
Good result to go to Glasgow and win, but already some folk on the official AFC messageboard are proclaiming it "one of the best AFC results ever"! - that's going way over the top!
Nice to get the win and all that, but hope it doesn't cloud the bigger picture at AFC right now.

This loss really doesn't mean anything at all to the Bhoys. Aberdeen shouldn't be too overjoyed.

Martin O'Neill seems to disagree:
""It's disappointing to lose our home record and our league record this season... It's disappointing tonight but we've had a great season."
As far as I'm concerned it's symptomatic of the stop-start nature of AFC's season. Too many times we've got a decent result yet it's been sandwiched by crap results against the teams around us.
We had a great win away at Kilmarnock early in the season, but that was sandwiched by defeats to Livingston and Dundee United.
Put in a decent performance to draw 1-1 with Rangers (who at the time were losing left, right and centre) but that was followed up almost immediately by a return to the usual poor results. Stuffed Dundee United a couple of weeks ago and then meekly surrendered to Motherwell last weekend.
We'll see what happens with Livingston at the weekend, then.

They just ended a 72 game home winning streak in which the likes of porto, juventus, celta vigo, liverpool, bayern, lyon, rosenborgs, stuttgart, boavista and barcelona couldnt and thats not a reason to be overjoyed?
Not to mention the fact they were missing at least 5 key players and about 9 first teamers overall.

Well done to Aberdeen. Nice to see they put in some effort! They usually only play 4 games a year.

Is it now no wins in 4 at Celtic Park??? 1-1 Motherwell, 2-2 Hearts, 1-1 Villareal and now 2-1 Aberdeen?

Aye, probably more down to complacency than any real drop in Celtic's strength. The title's been in the bag for months and there's not been the urgency really to push for wins that there was earlier in the year.
In the early months when they needed the points then they certainly made short work of most Scottish sides:
4-0 and 3-1 v Aberdeen
3-0 and 2-0 v Motherwell
5-0 and 1-0 v Hearts
Not that I want to take anything away from our great result in beating Celtic (and hell, Hearts were bloody unlucky to throw victory away a couple of weeks ago) but when they actually had something to play for in the two previous matches this season, they horsed us.
If one were to compare Aberdeen's two 21st Century wins over Celtic (ah how sad, to think we had a great late-20th Century record too ;) ) then the 2-0 win in 2001 was a much better result in my opinion than the Wednesday one coming as it did as part of our 9 home wins in a row run and right in the middle of a competitive part of the season.
