2-Jonathan Bornstein
5-Oguchi Onyewu
8-Clint Dempsey
9-Charlie Davies
10-Landon Donovan (capt.)
12-Michael Bradley
13-Ricardo Clark
15-Jay DeMerit
17-Jozy Altidore
18-Brad Guzan
21-Jonathan Spector

By opinion...let's see how Landon is deployed. However, my first opinion is that the midfield lack Torres or Benny or Adu, someone technical. I fear we won't be able to hold the ball, and the defense won't hold up.

the midfield lacks creativity to push the ball up. its going to hurt us playing with egypt quick game. that and baby bradley sometimes takes a 1 second relay to see a player and pass makes me shake my head

a good pairing would have been

davies -----altidore
donovan------torres----bradley--------dempsey(only because theres no other choice)

Hopefully someone tells Rico Suavé not to lose his head again.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Bradley is determined that this team will play only one way, come hell or high water.

No Beasley! Hallelujah!

I'd love to see the 4-3-3 again, personally.

Borstein--Gooch--DeMerit--Spector
---Dempsey----Bradley----Clark---
---Donovan----Altidore---Davies---

It pisses me off that Howard isn't starting. But I somewhat understand...

As I wrote in the PBP thread...

With the exception of the Bradley-Clark pairing, I think this is as close as possible to our best lineup. Would rather see Torres-Bradley or Feilhaber-Bradley, but the "F-you, Bob" or "Same ol', same ol'" comments are too extreme.

i dont really think they are too extreme. he is putting dumbshit rico back in after pretty much single handidly ruining our chances against italy.

What have Torres/Adu done to deserve this? It's almost as if Torres' lone reason for having ever been deployed on a soccer field for the USMNT was to
a. blame for everything that is wrong with Bob's tactics
b. to not let Mexico call him up instead....

'cause certainly Bob seems to find to need/importance in using him ever again, it would appear...

Almost the same for Adu.....
I am not asking to insert both in the startniug 11 at the same time, but the lack of creativity/ ball possession/passing ability at least CLAMOR for one of them to start......I guess Bob just does not think so.....

Since he is treating it as a throw away game by starting Guzan. Why not give guys like Wynne, Torres or Adu who could work their way into the lineup by next summer a taste?

Exactly, why the heck is Torres/Adu being kept on the bench? Play at least one of them in a game that honestly doesn't matter.

In retrospect, starting Davies instead of a target man was a big deal, and a smart move by Bradley. He has allowed the US to play a counterattacking style. In particular, Donovan has found space very wide against the Egyptians' 3 man backline, to great effect. (*See below for more on this.)

Not be Dempsey.

*Dempsey is playing at a different tempo from Davies, Donovan, and Altidore, and it's hurting the US team. Dempsey is holding the ball and waiting for his teammates, even when the US is looking at 4v5 type situations.

A 3 goal win is within reach. But the US is going to have to make a change. I'd put Adu at LW and LD at RW and sit Dempsey and go for it.
