In Spanish this may be a good comeback to
the booing during the Star Spangled Banner
"ESTADOS --- UNIDOS -----
JAMAS SERA VENCIDOS!"
It has subtle overtones
For starters it is stolen from a Chilean left wing street chant
El Pueblo Unido
Jamas Sera Vencido!
(The People United
Will never be defeated)
So the the USA may lose or draw, but "they will never be defeated..."

You know, shin, I know I don't speak for all americans right now, but the way I feel about it is that I don't mind any pro-USA team chants or anti-Mexico chants, but I am really not all that proud of the US's political activities of late. While I wouldn't boo the national anthem, I will be thinking about what ********ups our current administration is.
So I just not enthused about nationalistic chants right now. Sorry.

I didn't know patriotism was a button that could be turned on or off.

f' ups our administration?????. What is the New Spain crap? Spain are the ones that got down on their hands and knees to Osama. Go live live in the coward controled country
You may not agree with our adminstration but think of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our national anthem is not only about our administration its about the love we have for this country and the men and women who risk there lives to protect it.
Mexicans can boo our national anthem all they want. Tell them to stop jumping our borders if they dislike our country so much. The truth is that the Mexicans that will be disrespecting our country are the typical brainless mexicans . So pick your nosses and show how classless you are it will not affect us. We are still and always be the superpower and you are that piece of tard below us.

As I started the thread, why don't we just discuss the value of the chant itself. It is simple yet I admit it does have a political charge, as many chants do. I remember the NY Metro crew leading a "SUPERPOWER, SUPERPOWER, U-S-A!!" chant at Korea 2002 that was catchy as it was macho.
BTW I am a Mexican-American USA supporter. It was the urine bags that made me give up supporting El Tri except for special occasions

I refuse to accept that we don't chant the chorus to "We're an American Band" already.
I can understand us not doing the coda to Kim Wilde's "Kids in America" - barely. And maybe I can learn to accept not converting Violent Femmes' "American Music" to "American Soccer." But it's as if Grand Funk wrote this specifically for us.
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party down
We're an American band
You know what, screw "Star Spangled Banner," that should be our national anthem.

As in the New Spain that is not Spain.
Glad I didn't say anything about New Mexico.

Guys - this is about *soccer* not *politics*. From my cheap seat, all we are doing is taking pride in our national soccer team in a match against Mexico's national team. Period.
If you want to talk politics, do it in a political forum. This ain't it.
Now that is just one fellow's opinion, but there it is.

Catchy chant wasn't it? To be honest, I'm not fond of the current fook-ups either.

As he told me before, "They go through all the trouble to write those lyrics for us. Who are we not to take advantage of it?"
How about a few lines from Neil Diamond's Coming to America? Or how about "Our candies don't have lead!"

would it be inappropriate to write a chant about the Battle of San Jacinto?
or "Gorditas smell like yeast!"
thought of an actual good one:
red--white--and blue
the only tri colores that matter!

How about singing "Born in the USA"? It was our official WC 2002 song, and the guy who sings it is named Bruce. How perfect is that?

hmmm . . . seeing as we had david regis and llamosa on the team, perhaps it wasn't appropriate. I don't remember an official song either.

I distinctly remember reading it was our official song.
