OK. I'm no expert, but why is DC United so bad at throw ins? It happens every game. In the first half against Colorado so far I have counted 6 throw ins where we held position (3 of which bounced back and forth until DC got the ball). Ten of the throw ins went quickly to Colorado. I may have missed one or two. Is this normal? It seems like we always take a long time on throws which allows the defense to set up. I always notice one player wide open for a quick short throw so we could at least hold possession, but we always seem to go for the perfect play. What's the story here?

Yeah I noticed this too. It was really frustrating to see players heave it forward into traffic rather than toss it back and mantain possesion. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed in practice.

I would imagine it's much like the situation with corner kicks.

Bingo. Not very good in the air with jostling for the ball. We are stronger with the ball on the ground. I'd be curious how often we score on headers or as a result of battling from a header. On throw ins it would make sense to sacrifice position in favor of possession.
