Love this article. 2 comments in particular:
Q. [ESPN2] had a shot of you on the bench during [Saturday's telecast] and you were watching very intently. You're not used to sitting on the bench. How has that been for you?
A. Actually, I was pretty mad. I wanted to be out there playing so bad. That was the only thing. I'm not used to it, but like I've said, [with emphasis] you have to respect the coach's decision. You have to. No matter what happens, you have to respect him because he's looking out for the well-being of the team. You might not necessarily agree with him, but you have to respect him. And all you can do is keep working harder and harder to earn yourself that starting job.
I know that people think that he should sit down and shut up, but I generally like it when I guy is rarin' to get in there and show people what he can do. I would much rather have that attitude than a guy who is satisfied with sitting on the bench. I would actually be worried if that was his attitude. And second:
Q. What were your impressions of soccer in the United States before you moved here from Ghana [at age 8], and how is it different from what you thought it would be?
A. To be honest, my impressions were that this country was not good at soccer, it wasn't known for soccer ............ But the whole soccer thing has gone great. I'm really, really surprised at how good America is now at soccer. It's unbelievable. Like I said, a couple years from now we're going to be winning the World Cup and it may come sooner than many people think.
Dang, I love it when guys expect the most out of themselves and those around them. I don't know if the US can win during Adu's years in the limelight, but I do know this ............. if you don't THINK you can win, you certainly WONT.

I look forward to your report.
Remember, we don't care about the game. All we care about is if Freddy scores. :)

Thanx for the link. I found this to be hilarious:Q. The under-20 guys aren't your age, but they're closer than the players at D.C. United. Is it more comfortable for you to be with the U-20s?
A. Yeah, because we do the same stuff, we share the same passions. With D.C., most of the guys are married. They have different interests because they're old school. This is pretty fun because you can relate to other people.

That is an attitude that cannot be taught nor faked very well. This kid is so incredibly precocious too. I love it.

I like the Palm Beach story - even has a quote from Ray Hudson. The writer really dusts off his soccer contact rolodex!

Great stories, even though the Palm Beach story contains a factual error--DC did not miss the playoffs last year (small comfort, and they might as well have, but still).

I don't know about you but it looked to me that the Fire's 1st round opponent failed to show, whoever they were...
Loved both articles.
