Yes, he's our favorite whipping boy.
Yeah, sometimes we're left wondering just what the hell it is he does out there.
Sometimes, he even makes us question the nearly infallible judgment of Le Boss.
But on Friday, he laid on twice for Henry. Both were well placed, well weighted through balls that led to Henry goals.
Maybe he's been taking lessons from Edu while watching from the bench?
I still remain amazed. I didn't think he had it in him.
Snaps to Gilberto for gaining a bit of vision, and following through.

Yes, it was certainly surprising to see him thread those balls through to Titi. However, just to balance that out, he managed to completely screw up a one-on-one with the 'keeper. I'm still convinced he's the only Brazilian in top flight football with absolutely no ball skills whatsoever. Until he consistently makes some great passes, I'll stay true to my thoughts on this guy... hell of a squad player, but a mess of a starter.

Oh, I totally forgot about that. What a shank that was!

My Brasilian friends never thought highly of the guy. During the buildup to 2002 they were shocked that he was called into the squad, only due to Emerson's injury though.

Oh, I totally forgot about that. What a shank that was!
It was one of those great moments at the ground...
Me: "He's through!..."
The guy next to me: "Who is that?"
Me: "Uhhhh, Gilberto?"
SHANK!!!!
The guy next to me: "What was that?"
Me: "Uhhhh, I'm not sure. Maybe it was a pass."
The guy next to me: "Pass?!? To who? He was 1-on-1 on the edge of the area!"
Me: "Couldn't have been a shot. No, couldn't have been. Too slow. Too far to left. Nope. No way. Had to be a pass. Must have thought Titi was coming down the left."
The guy next to me: "Uhhhh, yeah, sure, whatever."
I'll never learn. When Gilberto is involved it's clearly a case where Occam's Razor applies and the simpler explanation holds true...
Visionary pass slightly overcooked or easy shot completely screwed?
You can all make up your own minds on that one. Oh yeah, and take another look at the "great" passes he made and try to decide whether the side-footed wonder through ball to Henry was what he meant to do.

what else are you suggesting it was? a chip forward into the path of an onrushing attacking player... and it succeeded
Jesus... the poor guy can't even make a good play without a deluge of sarcasm...
Its only Ray Parlour

Say what you want about Gilberto, but the two passes to Henry for goals were class. However, if you want to get into a discussion about horrible first touch........he would be the at the top of the debate.
