All indications point to us putting a concrete bid for him, but the player himself wants to play in Spain, and more importantly Madrid.

FM 2009/10 indeed.

Just like with the other thread, I still despise this time of the year.

If we can manage to get De Rossi, a Benzema/Eto'o level striker (who just shoots the fecking thing!) and a good winger with upside to him (Valencia, if the price is lower than is being bandied around), then I think we could honestly come out a lot stronger for this. Similar to when Juve sold Zidane then bought Buffon, Thuram and Nedved.

What worries me though is that a good chunk of this money will probably go into servicing the debt (makes sense, but it's not fun to think about), or mishandling new signings this summer, which would be well, bad.

What I don't get is why Barca is so eager to offload Eto'o every season. I mean, I know he is kind of a pain, but no worse than Drogba, Ibrahimovic, or Berbatov. The guy has 126 goals in 183 (8 sub) games since 2004/2005. Not sure many strikers in the world are going to put up those kinds of numbers. His injury history is really the only downside I see to him, but he was healthy all last season.

Wow surprised by that. The US could do very well to get a mid of his caliber. He will add quality along with great athleticism.

He was one of the reasons why Schalke had the best defense last seaosn in the BL. German fans still don't know why Loew never really gave him a chance in Germany. Frings is def not the player he was in 2006 and Jones, at 27 would have been an ideal replacement for him in 2010.

Oh well, congrats Nats fans...he is a player that will not only add strength to the US squad but leadership as well.

Liverpool made a 18 million bid for Robben today. That will be the end of me if he agrees to the move.

Well it won't be the end of you.

I highly doubt the egomaniac which is Perez, would sell Robben off for so cheap to a club who's manager has refused to negotiate selling Xabi. If they want him they're going to have to considerably hike that offer or give us Xabi and cash.

Or just tell them to f*ck off and smash them 4-0 again when they meet in the CL.

Heard a little about this a couple week ago, glad he's looking to come aboard. He could literally save our team and banish Ricardo Clark to the depths of hell (or just MLS) forever.

I don't think £18m is a low offer for Robben, considering the number of appearances he makes each season. It's not Liverpool's fault you overpaid.

This time around Madrid would do the smashing.

Doubt it. Nothing has changed really. It will just be 6-3 for Pool this time around.

We both know this isn't true.

Anyhow, Pool didn't deserve the 1-0 victory in the first leg. Liverpool would be backed up this time around.
