I am looking to purchase a new watch to use during my games, specifically at regionals, and looking for feedback from all of you on watches you like and/or dislike before making my purchase. I can't seem to find one that I really like.

Thanks!

A quick search should find you a pretty long discussion within a few pages on th is subject.

I have searched already and the only threads I find are outdated and mention models that aren't available anymore. Thank you though.

I have a Timex Ironman Triathalon 30-Lap (http://www.timex.com/gp/product/B00008IM8S/sr=1-1/qid=1244565186/ref=sr_1_1/175-0248870-1920549?ie=UTF8&m=A1S5XB33AHYRMX&n=267161011&timexBrand=core) that I use and it works great. Got it for $40 at Walmart. Has a countdown timer (which while I know freaks some here out, I like it) and the timer automatically restarts after time expires which I can then use for stoppage time. Setting is easy has it has buttons for both up and down, no having to scroll all the way through 55 minutes to go from a setting of 45:00 to 40:00. The watch is durable and has a soft velcro strap so that it is less of an injury concern. Indiglo backlighting and water resistant up to 100M. I like it.

I love having a vibration watch (the CASIO referee watch is apparently no longer available). I like having one watch count down, and the other count up. t is very helpful that no one knows when the countdown watch has reached zero.

I'm with intechpc and DWickham, best bet if you can get your hands on a Casio RFT-100 that has vibrate, but next best thing in my opinion is any Timex Ironman with countdown timer. I don't use this now that I have my Casio vibrate due to the audible alarm.

Right arm: Casio RFT-100 in countdown mode w/ vibrate.
Left arm: Timex Ironman in chronograph count up mode.

Right for how much left in half,
Left for when cautions/send-offs/injures happen in a half.

Keep an eye out on eBay for the RFT-100.

I have one of the CASIO referee watches, the Casio RFT-100, and would love another one for the other wrist but like you said it's not available anywhere it seems. I can't even find anything similar to it. :(

You can find the RFT-100, but you've gotta dig and/or pay a lotta dinero.

I have one on each arm; left for how long left and right for how much time have we played.

Great watch.

yeah found one on Ebay for $135 but that is too much so I went ahead and bought the Ultrak Soccer Watch from officialsports for $40. I'll give that one a go as a secondary to my RFT-100.

As long as you have that, I would just get an $8 Armitron with a stopwatch for the other wrist. There is really no need to have two with all the bells. The casio counts down, the stopwatch goes up. The state ref that I know uses two Armitrons, both counting up.

My favourite is the Optimumtime. It's a pretty simple watch with just count up or countdown functions (countdown defaults to 45 minutes), no beeps or vibrations. I just use it in countup mode and leave it alone. The main reason I prefer it to anything else I have seen is that the numbers are big enough for my eyes to see without fishing for my reading glasses, not a good idea in the middle of a match. All the multi-function watches end up with numbers too small for me to see clearly.

I found the RFT-100 from a company in the UK at watchesandwhistles.co.uk. They, and officialsports.co.uk, have it back in stock now. Problem is that the latter company will not ship to the US. I bought my first one from OSI and love it. I've ordered a couple more from watchesandwhistles.co.uk to give me a backup should the first one die and to give my son a birthday present when he finally gets his patch. They are £39.95 + £7.00 shipping and I think they're worth every penny.

I have the Ultrak and like it. I like that you can start the timer to keep track of stoppages - then the alarm sounds after that much time is added to the countdown timer. If it only had a vibrate mode...
