In the new Time magazine that came out today there is a photo on page 46-47 that shows a crowd of people around a man posing with a machine gun. The kid to the left of him is wearing a red and white shirt with a strangely familiar big O on the center of it. This jumped out me and even my wife said that that was an Arsenal shirt. The irony did not escape me of a "Gunner" next to an Iraq gunman. Apparently the premiership is popular in Iraq.

It couldn't of been, the photo was taken in the last week, do you really think he had time to go out to Iraq in between Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle - come on no season ticket holder would of missed that run.................!!!

I saw about a week ago on tv...can't remember which channel, a kid with an Arsenal kit on in Iraq. Maybe it was the same event. I grinned as soon as I noticed and said I recognize that BEAUTIFUL KIT anywhere!!!

Except for the fact the kid is a member of Muqtada al-Sadr's militia, this would be great. Even my folks mentioned something to me about the picture.

Hey, An Arsenal fan is an Arsenal fan anywhere.
Don't want to get into a debate about this, but remember that Sadr gave plenty of warning's to the Coalition that he wasn't happy with the force used in certain area's. The Iraqi Governing Council themselves warned the US to let him join the council as he was so influential.......

A short time after the British Army took control of Basra in Southern Iraq, the Royal Marines organised a match against the local team. The captain of the Iraqi team strode onto the pitch proudly wearing an Arsenal shirt.

I also remember one picture taken a few years ago (I think it was in Serbia or somewhere) of a group of citizens taking over a government building, and one of the guys had an Arsenal jacket.

Arsenal fans are at the center of revolutions worldwide!

When the statue of Sadam was being pulled down, there was a kid with a Man U top with Beckham on the back, strangely the top was dark blue.

Great Stuff!

It reminds me of a similar visual from about 15 years ago. I watched a news report of one of those enormous anti-apartheid marches in South Africa, with literally tens of thousands chanting in unison. As the marchers got closer to the camera, I noticed a guy wearing a Raiders jersey......
