I realize this is an old match, but I joined to post comments about it and couldn't post, and then the MLSnet site's video was down.

http://web.mlsnet.com/media/player/mp_tpl.jsp?w_id=1108520&w=http%3A//mfile.akamai.com/11504/wmv/mlbmls.download.akamai.com/11504/2009/open//mls/2009/05/30/mls_rretul_4801211_800K.wmv&catCode=game_packages&gid=2009/05/30/cocmls-seamls-1&vid=2989&mid=200905315063168&cid=200905315063168&fid=game_packages800&v=2&type=v_free&spons=&_mp=1

Anywho I wanted to throw this play out there and see if there is something I was missing. In stoppage time at the end of the match, the AR calls offside. Now the guy who receives the ball is clearly not offside, and the AR isn't even lined up with him, he's with the forward most striker. In reviewing the replay, that CLB striker looks neither in the offside position at the time it was kicked, nor interferring with the play, even if he was offside. This is what I gather from this poor quality highlite video. Can someone clarify?

I'm not sure which play you're referring to; what's the time on it?

If you are talking about the play at 16 seconds in to stoppage in the second half, it isn't an offside but rather looks like a foul call by the AR. From the player movement, the SEA defender in the middle of the field elbows the CLB attacker.

but that is just my guess.

About 17 seconds into stoppage time at the end of the match.

About 17 seconds into stoppage time at the end of the match. All you have to do is watch the replays that follow. The AR called Marshall for elbowing a Crew player. Marshall was then sent off.

Ah yes, the game that took 3 minutes to get Columbus to stay on the goal line with a Seattle IDFK from the top of the goal area. That was crazy to watch.

Trust me, it was even stranger to see in person. About 90% of the stadium didn't understand what the call (in both cases was) and, unfortunately, there was no replay of either. From the stands I knew what the ejection was for... without seeing it.

The situation was one in which the AR raised the flag with a slight (very) wiggle and then took a little while to get on the same page with the AR. The ref got the ball, Keller (Seattle keeper) seemed to be coming up to take the free kick HOWEVER he quickly called the team back. At that point I knew something serious was coming and POP out comes the red card. Called it as being a punch and/or elbow (elbow made more sense during run of play).

Ok, I really missed the slight wave, and was probably listening to the announcers too much. My bad...
