According to this article (http://www.fussballtalente.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=196:bussmann-verlaesst-blackburn&catid=3:kurzmeldungen&Itemid=18) Germany U-18 goalkeeper Björn Bussmann is joining 1860 from Blackburn Rovers.

The article says Bussmann was no longer first choice in his group at Blackburn's youth academy.
Thank you Michi Hofmann....he had some pull in this. Tell me this guy ain't 1860 blue.:o

Fabian has a contract through June 2010 (next year, folks). I had thought that Stevic would have done what Reuter wanted to do BEFORE he was fired and sign the kid to a two year extension. But Stevic was f&cking asleep as usual. If you recall, Retuer was close to signing him on an extension before management fired him. Johnson was just breaking into regular play under Kurz at the time and he would have signed no problem. Am hearing he does not like the new management and, under Wolf, was advised to keep his options open. Guess what Stevic, you lost ANOTHER player!!!!

Rumor is Stevic is looking at Igor Mitreski und Dimitri Bulykin. Before you get too excited they are close to 30. Despite being decent players, Stevic seems keen on building a team of older players. Such a model is not sustainable.

When I look at the players we let walk like Traesch, Schick, Schaefer, Tausenpfund, Hosinier and others it makes me cringe. Now Johnson? Stevic's "magic" is obvious.

True, but at least he'll get paid this time.

He's trying to fulfill that "Promotion 2010" bullshit. He thinks if he can do that, he'll get time for everything else.

It's the same mistake BVB made in the early part of this decade and you see where it got us......

I hate to "defend" Stevic, but the fact of the matter is they need to cash in on Johnson. That might have even been possible if Reuter was still here and had extended with Johnson.

Even if Stevic had extended with Johnson, there's no way he could have rebuffed or ignored the interest that Johnson is supposedly drawing from the 1. Liga. No way.

1860 needs the money too much. They can live without Fabian Johnson. They can't live without cash coming in.

Just emailing back and forth with a buddy in Feldkirchen... His response to all of this?

"WTF is going on at Gruenwalderstr???"

I could not agree more.

Well, of course we need to cash in on him now. But that's because Herr Head-up-ass failed to resign the kid when he had the chance. He actually told the kid he had to "earn the right to be resigned". From what I hear, that pissed Fabian off to no end, knowing he had offers to play with better teams in the pipeline. Johnson was ready to sign with 1860 under Reuter, but basically avoid Stevic and played his ass off to get out.

Sure he could have. He could have ignored it for a year or two while the stock price continued to rise. If the kid had been resigned for 2012 like Reuter wanted we would have had two more years with Johnson. But, from what I hear, Fabian was close to Wolf and learned quickly Stevic was not to be trusted.

We are not THAT cash strapped. After the Bender deal we are on balance. To sell Fabian is now is a must, but was not earlier. He may fetch 2m tops. Ooooh, that makes me feel better.

Whatever happened to the magic investor and the new sponsor with $$$????? My bet is our books look like shit as early as Nov. I am seriously scared we will not have a license next year.

Boy. This makes me think back to when you used to accuse Reuter of not being "savvy" enough to run the club! LOL!!

Well of course he was close to Wolf, what player who had been there for awhile wasn't?? And you ASSUME "stock price would continue to rise".

I'm telling you, 1860 will be smart to cash in on this kid now. I know you're high on him, but I'll be supremely surprised if he does so well on the next level.

What about the Bender deal put 1860 "on balance?" And from what I understand, yes, you guys are "that cash-strapped."

But I don't profess to know more than you about 1860. I just know I believe who told me.

Doesn't that kind of contradict your last statement???

So, I told you guys about buying 20 1860 kits for my U10 boys right? The TZ (Tageszeitung) had a great deal where I could get the home, away and third trikots for 29,90 for all three. Well I placed the order and got a REAL nice reply back from them. They were so intrigued by the fact that someone in the US would outfit their team in 1860 garb that they want to publish a team picture in an upcoming issue of the TZ. Moreover, they offered to print up a poster-sized team photo for every player. How cool is that???

I always liked the TZ folks when I was there, but they have gone out of their way to be great to a group of kids they have never met. I will be sure to post the link to the published pic when it goes online. My kids are besides themselves.:D

that is a great story and I know the kids will be super excited when they get their new unis.

According to this Transfermarkt.de article (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/news/28862/charilaos-pappas-verstaerkt-die-loewen.html), 26-year old Greek right outside attacker Charilaos Pappas is joining 1860 from Greek club Skoda Xanthi.

Lienen said: "I know Charilaos Pappas from my time in Greece. He impressed at Olympiakos, AEK und Xanthi with his speed and dribbling abilities. He also stood out as a playmaker."

Pappas spewed the predictable crap about how good it is to join a club with huge tradition........

I hope Lienen is right. I really hope he's right.

No, not at all. I understand they HAVE to sell him NOW. The point was that had Stevic been savvy he would have secured him BACK THEN. And yes, we all assume stock prices rise. But look at the kid....clearly his stock is rising. He rarely gets injured during normal run of play, plays with intelligence and is being called up often. All good signs.

As for Reuter being savvy, I still maintain he could have done more, but against Stevic he looks like freak'n Einstein. Of course, a damp rock looks like Einstein next to Stevic.

Seems 1860 is looking to bring over Tunesian player Radhouane Felhi (25). He is the captain of Tunesian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel and a national team player. He is a defensive all-rounder....which means likely a candidate for central mid.

If we get him let's hope he plays like Sammy Kuffour.:D

Harald Cerny makes the switch.......

According to this Transfermarkt.de article (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/news/28861/cerny-zu-bayern-junioren.html), Cerny is leaving his job as U-15 coach at 1860 to replace Mehmet Scholl as Bayern's U-14 coach.

When Tanner left many in the youth system decided to leave Juergen Jungs is a Tanner-like person but without the pedigre. One other failure of Stevic was not keeping Tanner happy....but much of his departure was seeing the club falling apart from the inside. Sad state of affairs.

Damn, you have a good memory of me not liking Gregg.:D

LOL....I might too. Will be on vacation at the beach and after a few Mojitos I just might feel like chatting with GB. Wonder if he will talk to me after all I've said about him? I did become one of his supporters last season and before though. Who said old dogs cannot learn new tricks. Would LOVE to know what he thinks of Stevic....though he is probably way too professional to air that over a chat session. Unlike Eric Wynalda.

So I did post two questions.....

"When you left 1860 there was much turmoil. How was the arrival of Stevic really taken by the 1860 players? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the current 1860 leadership (i.e., Stevic, Stoffers)?"

"First, thanks for being the player we were at 1860. During your time there you demonstrated class, professionalism and leadership. Who was really calling the shots at 1860 after Reuter left? It seemed Stevic had a heavy hand in forcing personnel changes on both Kurz and Wolf. Is that accurate? Lastly, who was the person you were closest with on the team and why?"

That would be very hard to forget! :) But I always laughed about your photoshop pictures of Gregg and later on it was nice to see that you appreciated him more and more. He's a good guy.

I was also thinking about posting a question how he sees this whole situation at 1860. But also thought he would answer that in the best professional way. Good to see that you posted 2 questions. I bet you didn't say you posted ugly things about him ;) Like his wife making the Kicker results (yes I do have a good memory).

ROFL.....

Actually, my cousin who works at 1860 said he used to check out the various fan boards from time to time and would laugh at the things people would say/write about him. Like you said, he is a professional and knows that people have their opinions, no matter how true or misplaced they may be. Heck, that's a tough job being in the limelight all the time and having EVERY aspect of your work judged. It reminds me of the comic who would treat "hecklers" in the audience by saying, "How would you like it if I can to YOUR office and said bad things about YOU!!!":D THAT would be funny. Perhaps GB will photoshop me goofing off at work.

Buy a bottle of Cachaca, some limes, and sugar. You are all set.

Correct. No liquor sales on Sundays and some places may not even sell at all on Sundays, depending on the county, but you should be fine where you are going.
