Nothing new here (http://www.eyep.tv/beitrag/2-bundesliga/video/loewen-praesentieren-ihren-neuen-hoffnungstraeger.html), just a montage of the various reports in video form.

Maybe KC gets a 5 minute runout at the end of the home match? Just to get his boots dirty?

So, after giving myself a crash course in the 2.Bundesliga, I think 1860 has a shot at promotion this season :eek:. Pappas and Cooper should be a killer new combo up front. If the defense holds I see nothing holding them back.

My 2.BL predictions;
1. Alemmania Aachen
2. Kaiserslautern
3. 1860 Munich

The usual things will hold them back: 1) $$$, 2) health, which leads to 3) lack of depth.

Every year it has been the same since 2004: Great fall, key injuries, bring up youth to fill the gap, horrid srping leg, excape relegation by 3 points.

I am hoping for a break from this Teufels Kreis....and not simply the reverse of what has been happening either. :D I like to see a nice, slow and steady run keeping us in the top 6 and within striking distance all season.

I'd also like to be younger, have more hair, drive a porche and have a wife that is smokin'...but at my age I will settle for 1860's success and a bier.

In that order? ;)

In Videotext I saw that the 2. BL coaches picked Augsburg to win the league. I don't know who did the survey or where it can be found (mainly because I haven't looked) but Augsburg could be a Geheimtip.

I think if 1860 is up by two goals or more near the end, that's a real possibility......

I would too. Did you see the moves they made in the summer? Lukhay is building a team that will do well.....should do well. :D

Yes, that 3rd place was a "heart" prediction as I really wanted to put Energie Cottbus or Alemannia Aachen there, but I think if they can stay healthy, Lienen will know what to do to get these guys into the relegation playoff.

Harris, if you wanted to know about FC Augsburg, all you had to do was ask Garry or me. They are gambling revenue they expect from their new stadium and putting full confidence in Jos Luhukay to get them to the 1. Liga.

If they don't make it, I don't know how much financial trouble they will be in, but I'm almost certain they would have a big player sale.

I am not in love with the idea of Sechzig playing in the AA, that is clear. But it is an impressive facility, for sure. I loved it.

Oh no. You're not one of "them", are you?? ;)

Had forgotten about the stadium, but am aware of all of the moves, as well as yall's take on them. Nontheless, I was still surprised to see that it was the coaches who picked them and not a group of journalists. As usual, the 2. BL will fun to watch.

Yeah, usually the pick is one of the relegated 1. BL clubs, but I really don't see them doing that much.

I think Bielefeld will get "hot" near the end, but this will be a battle all the way.

A good article here (http://www.tz-online.de/sport/tsv-1860/loewen-starten-neuen-anlauf-bundesliga-meta-433047.html?cmp=defrss) on what is going on in the club house prior to the season start.

Forever the attraction of the Bundesliga: After the hard-fought cup win in Paderborn, 1860 prepares themselves for the next fight - promotion.

"The euphoria is greater than in previous years," said Lions captain Benjamin Lauth on Wednesday. "At 1860, no one will be satisfied with a mid table performance." It has been six seasons since the bitter relegation from the "Big House" of the BL, and a return to top flight for the 150th anniversary of the club in May 2010 is a real motivator. Sport Director Miroslav Stevic, in collaboration with coach Ewald Lienen, have rebuilt the team with this goal in mind. On Sunday is the Lions first league game in the Allianz Arena against TuS Koblenz.

"We have tried with all our might to strengthen the team," said Stevic, "I believe we are on the right track." Gabor Kiraly (Bayer Leverkusen), Radhouène Felhi (Etoile Sportive du Sahel), Antonio Rukavina (Borussia Dortmund), Alexander Ludwig (FC St. Pauli), Aleksandar Ignjovski (OFK Belgrade), Florin Lovin (Steaua Bucharest), Charilaos Pappas ( Skoda Xanthi), Ardijan Djokaj (TuS Koblenz), Kenny Cooper (FC Dallas) and Kushtrim Lushtaku (FC Drenica) have all been brought in to effect change. Peniel Mlapa, Sandro Kaiser and Tarik Camdal were brought up from the 1860 youth system to the professional team as well.

"It is not easy with so many new players, but so far it is working out quite well on the pitch," says Lauth, who on Wednesday met his new strike partner Kenny Cooper. "A gusy of his stature fits very well with us," says Lauth. However, the transfer of the activities in Muenchen do not yet seem completed. "I continue to watch the market," said Stevic in relation to Daniel Bierofka. The 1860 regular will be sidelined for an indefinate period following his most recent operation.

Lienen coach predicts a tough battle for the first three places table. "The three relegated Karlsruhe, Bielefeld and Cottbus are natural front runners, but I am also thinking Rostock, Kaiserslautern and Duisburg," said the 55 year old trainer. "There is always a surprise team, this could be Augsburg. They have strengthened themselves very well."

Probably. In a perfect world, I would love for Sechzig to be in Gruenwalder Stadion. Again, in a perfect world. I am not calling for that now as I know it will not happen and is unrealistic.

I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with Keith here. I actually wanted to put Bielefeld ahead of Augsburg, but I could not do it. I am somehow thinking Kaiserslautern may have a say in things before it is all over.

Sechzig, it appears with most of us, is the "sexy" pick to be 3rd. God as my witness, I pray this to be the case. :cool:

I like the Augsburg pick, Bielefeld seems logical - but that 3rd slot is up for grabs, Aachen would seem like a good pick.

As for 1860 - too many new faces, if they can stay top 6 at the break, then they will make a big push at the break.

Serious question - could someone explain to me why FC Augsburg is expected to do so well?

I ask because I do not know.

That has not been their M.O. over the past few seasons now, has it? :o

Cris does not know something????:eek::eek:

I guess FCA are favs for the same reason everyone liked FCK last season despite being in relegation danger only just the year before. First, they have a seasoned coach who knows how to handle a team and keep it together. Second, they have mades some excellent acquisitions in the off season...and not just names, but good, solid 2.BL players who know the game, are usually fit and can execute. Third, their club, fans and board all seem to be on the same page and seem not to suffer from the usual poison politics that kills hopeful clubs like 1860, 'Haching and others later in the season. Lastly, $$$$. They have gotten an infusion of $$ that will allow them to put their aspirations to work.

Now, FCA sport director is down playing their prospects.
