Dude, the only reason I intend to see Pizza Hut Park when I get back there is the opportunity to drink beers with Garry!!

Buying an MLS package in the future has never crossed my mind.

But "Lowen TV" is a freakin' superb offer!

I'm going to have to hope I can get some 1860 games on atdhe.net.

PhPark - good idea, but you could just do the beers at his secret hideout :p

I think he was being purposefully "inclusive" to avoid looking like it was the Kenny Hates MLS Hour.

Cooper is a good guy, I still think they could have done better with a different agent (earlier move to Eurolandia)

The video is here (http://www.eyep.tv/beitrag/2-bundesliga/video/kenny-cooper-der-allrounder.html). There is not much to translate. If you hear "Nuke" LaLoosh you would be right. Bet this is the only PK that is in English.

I LOVE the question about the difference between MLS and European footy.
Love the prominent blue shirt!!!
I bet this guy learns German in no time....BING....advert for Rosetta Stone. "Hey Kenny, you just got bought by 1860 and are flying to Germany, what's the first thing you bought?" "I bought Rosetta Stone at the airport!!"
Does he communicate on the pitch? Hell yeah, I have heard him 26 rows up for three years.
Is the girlfriend coming? ROFL...if YOU were his girlfriend would YOU take a 3 year holiday to Germany? I might turn gay for such a vacation.
LOL...Stevic said he only understood about 60% of what was said.
I love how Germans think 6'3" is tall and he should ahve beena basketball player.

He's doing a great job with the press. I loved how he turned the Lauth question into "most of the players speak English".

"name of the girlfriend" - doesn't the team usually put on the player profiles? I'm with you on the 3 years in Munich - freaking I need to get over soon.

What exactly does Sechzig mean?

Sechzig, Sech'zge= 60, as in 1860.

Geez, that is so easy.

Loved the question about "the other club in Munich" too.

Cooper should have responded "Yeah I know about them, bitches"

If I was his age and was just handed contract with the Loewen, in target rich Muenchen . . . I would be taking a break from the "girlfriend", concentrate on the football and climbing the local "peaks" and diving in the local "valleys" based on the fine looking Loewenbabebilder you've been sharing.

Deutschefrauleinen understand that football comes first, whereas the Ami girls tend to need more attention and take away focus.

Just ask LD. (ROFL!!!!!)

Getting involved and integrating with the local Frauleinen always goes over well with the locals!

That's just me.

Like the TSV Auswartstrikot. Let me know cost (including shipping). May want to get an XL and send you a bank check (in Euros) to cover. Still trying to figure out if I am coming in September based on need and other business arrangements. Send note per Inmailbox.

Cheers . . . Woody:D

I'll be springing for Lowen TV when I get back.

Well, Eddie, I have to see Pizza Hut Park. The last time Garry and I went to see FC Dallas, they were still at the Cotton Bowl.

I have no doubt Garry will have a bier plan. I'll have to do the 3.5 hour drive from SA to get there.

Well, except for the time I fly up there to pick my car up. ;)

Cooper is a good guy, I still think they could have done better with a different agent (earlier move to Eurolandia)

I hope he and his dad will be at Champions' to watch the BayScum match on Saturday evening.

They are at that hotel and I'd like to meet them.

I know it is all speculation, and I will defer to those much more intelligent than me to answer, but just how much of an impact can "Dopple-Drei" have with Sechzig, especially in terms of the alleged push for promotion?

I'll take a stab at this based on previous comments, observations and transfers made.

Goal production was a huge problem last season. Scored 44, gave up 46 and most problems were in the midfield's inability to support the attack and resist the counters.

Kenny gives the versitility of a target forward that can play like a midfielder and knows how to slow the counter and create chances.

TSV picked up four "Sturmer" in the transfer market in including Cooper, Lushtaku, Djokaj (TuS Koblenz) and Pappas. Midfield acquisitions Lovin and Johnson will provide more balance on the endline and tend to play better off of defensive rolls. Johnson has solid crossing skills. Something sorely missed in the past.

Note most transfers made from the talent rich and cheap Ost Euroligen. You can afford to lay down serious transfer cash on one or two quality players when you can scout and pick up solid talent on the cheap from the east.

Surprised Gabor Kiroly got the #1 trikot over Tschauner as I thought him to be a stop-gap measure in case Hoffman show past inconsistancies. Solid pick-up at this level, though I could not see him as the starter should they earn promotion.

I am sure others have differing or more educated opinions and comments...

Agreed. Finishing and opportunity creation was low. Cooper hopefully can help change that.

He is like Benny in that he does not stay up top and wait...like Roesler. Adds more dimension.

Pappas will be used more in midefield I think. They have Mlapa, Schaeffler, Lustaku, Djokaj, Kenny and Benny. That should be a decent set of prospects to score. IMHO, first choice is K+B once K gets is feet wet.

Note to Woody: Johnson is gone. Now Pappas and Ludwig or Bierofka and Aigner will be the outsides.

Not surprised he is over PT because of his patzers. Hofmann was kept in case BOTH above him f'up big time....that says a lot about the trust they have in Kiraly IMHO. Also. GK is younger than MH, so he gets the nod. PT is out the door if we can sell him....doubt we can....and he won't go down to U23 quietly.

Thought TSV got Johnson from Wolfsburg or was it the other way 'round?

BTW- Did you move back stateside or are you still in Bayern?

We sold him this summer rather than have him leave on a free. I am in TX now...left Bayern a while back.

Heard a few days ago but the noize is getting louder: Lars Bender wants out. Seems he is pissed (and rightfully so) that Lienen considers him third choice behind the new players acquired AND 1860 will not release him to play in the U20 WM in a month's time. So he is asking Leverkusen to pull him early. Problem is that if Leverkusen take him now, let him play the U20 WM and then put him on their U23s (all of which Bender is fine with), they have to pay nearly twice what they would next June when he goes for ~1.6m. I think the sum is nearly 3m if he goes early.

As much as I think Stevic did right by Cooper in THAT transfer, we see the OTHER side of this douchebag only too quickly. To take a guy like Lars who busted his ass to keep 1860 up the past two seasons, whine about needing to keep him this season and then not use him AND keep him from the U20 WM?!?!?!? That's just pure BS!!!!:mad::mad:

Loewenboy,

So much for sending you the cashier's check for the kit. Thanks for clearing the Johnson matter up.

Good commentary.

Sporting Managers like Stevic are the "heartburn" many teams deal with. It's a business and as tight a budget as TSV is dealing with, I am not surprised by his actions.
You might have to look at Lienen more to blame in this matter since he is placing more faith in the new acquisitions then Lars Bender. Lienen can be a bit "Prussian" in his manner and dictates. He sees what he sees on the training pitch and likes experience over youth to start the season.
In a sense, this was an initial worry with Kenny Cooper. However, Kenny has a tough skin, ability to focus, listens and observes which will stand him well with Ewald. This trait comes from the uncompromising manner which Kenny, Sr. brought him up and trained him.
More then likely, Lauth and the others are going to have more sway and influence then Lienen as the key players are keen to get into or back to the Bundesliga. As long as Kenny is helping them, they are going to work with and help him adjust and succeed.
Believe me when I say that Gregg Berhalter, Josh Wolfe and Steve Cherundolo have been talking to Kenny and his dad for awhile. Gregg discussed Cooper with Lauth (very good friends) and others throughout the process.
I think this will be a win / win because of Kenny's strong mentality and desire to turn this chance into gold!

Link here (http://www.eyep.tv/beitrag/2-bundesliga/video/miki-stevic-und-die-weitere-personalplanung.html). Translation below...

Q: Can Kenny play in the game this weekend? You just seen him in training the one time so far.
A: (hard to hear the beginning) What is important is that he is here. He will need time to adjust. There's 7 hours difference from German time and US time so his body will need time to adjust. So a 1330 game will be 0630 for his body clock even on Sunday. We have to see how he adjusts. He play in training today at 1000 when it was really 0300 for him. 8 v 4 in training is a bit different than 11 v. 11 in a game. The important thing is that he has a week to get accustom to the team, feel at home with is play and then let's observe how things go.

Q: Do you think the newspaper reports about what is expected from Kenny is a little bit overblown?
A: It has more to do with the team, than how Kenny performs. It speaks to how the team is prepared for the season. But Kenny is coming from the middle of this US season, has just come from the Gold Cup and needs time to settle in and get accustom to us so he can put his stamp on the game. Having expectations that after just a week everything is complete, even for a professional, is a little more than expected.

Q: Of the players you were looking at, what did he [Kenny] have the others didn't?
A: We were looking for a player that had a presence, but despite that presence was also a football player that could play [LB Comment: interesting choice of words...a stab at Roesler perhaps?]. Not just a typical "target man", but someone who moves, has speed, good technical skills, strong shot, strong in the air, not just a flanker or someone like that. Someone who is fit and can score goals [LB: Damn, that HAS to be a shot at Roesler]. Not just a classic center striker.

Q: Are you looking for anyone else?
A: [insert best Yoda voice] There is another. I don't know that we want to identify him just yet as we are still talking.

Q: Is the person inquestion close and how long have you been looking at him?
A: The player is not too far from Muenchen. He has a good agent and we have been looking at him for a while now.

Q: [To Stevic] Why do you think Kenny opted to come to us now instead of the other clubs that were after him?
A: [As Stevic answers, you can see Lienen translating to KC] In tough financial times players have to look for career opportunities wherever they present themselves. Period. As for the decision, there are times when you have to look at all the aspects of things; what's important in life. There are times when a player has to follow his gut feelings. I think there was a good gut feeling between 1860 and Kenny, and the converations he had with our coach, that these long conversations - while my english is not very good - were important towards the decision-making process, and the importance of giving his father a level of comfort that all important aspects are being addressed.

Q: So can you tell us if he will play Sunday?
A: [Lienen looking at his watch and thinking "what a dipshit"] I just said the guy will have only been here 5 days. We will see how he adjusts and make a decision on game day. If you are asking if it is our wish plays, or at a minimum sits on the bench? Absolutely, you cannot simply say "yes, that will happen."

Q: Kenny, do you feel tired right now?
A: It was nice to train and run around a bit. I think that helps with getting over the jetlag, so I am glad I could come in and run around a bit. It's not new to me. I had to deal with it when I was living in England, so not a totally new experience.

Q: [at Stevic] Are you done with transfers or can we expect some more?
A: [smiles] We continue to look at the market to see what players we can bring in due to injuries to key players like Benny Schwarz and Danny Bierofka, so we always have to be on the lookout for alternatives.

Q: Is there someone in particular?
A: Yes, but that is always the question on when to disclose details. I want to be busy with getting the player, not manaing the other details.

Q: For example Lars Bender. There are reports he can go, he can stay. What is his status?
A: [Lienen]Micki can answer a bit on this but there ahve been reports he misses his brother, wants to feel more at home, but he is an important player for us [LB Comment: Yeah, a BACK-UP player]. If he wants to go then that is a complext question to answer. [Stevic] Very complex question; we'd need to pull up a stool and sit down and discuss it. [Lienen] We would need to talk to Leverkusen because we would be losing an important player, a starting player [LB Comment: Lie....he wants to use him as third choice behind Lovin and Ignjovski]. But this is a question that requires a great deal of discussion.

[Kenny and Lienen leave]

Q: Can you tell us how 1860 completed this transfer? The club does not have much money and yet?
A: Not much has changed. Football is about comings and goings. Many players left and many players came. Probably we made more of the players going than we paid for the players coming [LB Comment: Probably?!?!?! You mean you don't know? Liar]. We concentrated on bring players who could strengthen the club. I believe we have done that.

Could not hear the last few questions too well...too much echo. One of the last ones was about the depth of the team. Stevic seems to backoff his statements about Bender saying they would only use him when he was physically and mentally fit (whatever the hell that means, sounds like another bullshit Stevic excuse). Then Stevic goes on a bout the connection between twins and how when one is injured the other one is also not 100% (good lord, he believes this?). Then he tap dances around the other questions about Bender's future at 1860.

One day his head will explode I am certain.

I am hearing there are two candidates: One of the U23 players from Bayern team that is out of contract in June and/or Raphael Schaschko from 'Haching who is out of contract in June as well.

According to Stevic and Lienen, any new signings will be at left back. I guess they do not hold out hope Benny S. will be back anytime soon.:(
