Back from retreat, excellent stuff.

LB - how about that scoop last week ;)

What number is Cooper getting?

Exactly. You've got to have some patience dude.

Let's just hope they don't get BVB or Bayern! LOL!!

Yeah, really. That would not be good. Wolfsburg also look in midseason form.

Loewenvolk,

You will like Kenny Cooper. Big, strong and can create his own goals as well as working well with others on both sides of the pitch. He is a bit head-strong. However, he knows how to be humble as the new guy, in a new country and his Deutschesprache sehr gut ist! Ex-pats need to make him feel welcome!
This is the forward that Casey Conor could have been should he have stayed injury free! Can hold the ball against heavy tackles and very good field vision. Lousy goal celebration. Needs to work on this as I expect 10 plus production this season.
Next Amis working thier ways over will be Chad Marshall and Will Hesmer. Don't expect this until the Winterbreak though Mainz is making serious inquries after he trialed with them last January. With Joern Andersson's exit and multiple injuries, Die Karnavalboyz will be woeful unless transfers are made.
Problem with Chad is that they could have brought him in on a free last Winter and now any bidders will have to pay $1.2 M. Hesmer can come on a free in January. Actually think Marshal would be a great fit for TSV 1860 to firm up the center/stopper and can come out of the back and score on freekicks and headers. Four clubs making serious inquiries.
Hesmer is being looked at by St. Pauli, Energie Cottbus (word is that Tremmel will be picked up by 1. Bund outfit and Piplica just isn't up to the level anymore) as well as a couple English championship sides are in the que.
You will start seeing American players become more realistic about developing their games at the Zweitaliga level to learn and adapt to European football. Steve Cherundolo has been a solid influence on the up and coming players. It is what US Soccer needs (along with a complete re-work of the USSF structure and leadership).
There are rumblings of a Donovan return. I inquired with Mark Levenstein at the USNTPA for any confirmation since we run into each other often. Mark said it was more than rumblings.
My biggest question was "Why"?
Seems there is a great deal of conversation swirling that JK is clearing the way and LD's recent play has opened the door to real conversation. Watch for him to be in England (Birmingham, Tottenham and Wolverhampton), or Germany (Hamburger SV, Gladbach and Hertha were mentioned) by January on a perminent transfer. The Serie A - Livornio deal won't happen unless it comes before the close of the Summer transfer window.
We'll see. Mark is very reliable since he heads up the Player's Union. He is very realistic about Landon. He plays his cards close to the vest and doesn't pull punches. If he goes over and succeeds he can open more doors to top American players. If he dives in and drowns, it could hurt in the same manner.
I put it more to rumour until I hear it from MLS sources which have a great more of concern in the matter.

Cheers . . . Woody

Is there ANY way of telling who we could face in the t round of the DFB Pokal?
Whatever the strongest team in that round will be.:(

Ian and the boys are looking like champs in their Sechzig gear!
...and coupled with the Cooper news, these kids were SOOOOO stoked that they had these kits. TZ is going to do something for them which I think is pretty damn cool. Even the kids that are not good players and really don't care too much about soccer beyond playing it thought it was a great thing. Home, away and third kits?!?!?!? They are already bragging.

Props go out to my man who spotted this thing happening last week before it was announced. Made my damn weekend that is for sure. BTW, Eddie, the german boards are asking how Cooper compares to Charlie Davies. Also, I may have someone for you....guy who has a kid in France who is trying to get looked at in Deutschland. Will PM you with details when I get them.

Abendzeitung story...
Der neue Löwe aus Dallas: Mit dem Vater zu 1860 (http://www.abendzeitung.de/sport/tsv_1860/123258)

ROFLMMFAO...great quotes in the story:

KCjr to KCsr laughing: "Dad, lose the red bag" (reference to the fact that 1860 fans hate ANYTHING red as it is the color of rival Bayern Muenchen)
KCjr to press: "I know that Bayern's color is red and they are our largest rival - and that Loewen fans do not like to see anything red. 1860 is a huge traditional club with a rich story: the Loewen were cup champions in 1966 and also previously league champs. I am glad to finally be in Muenchen."
KCjr to press: "I spoke with Gregg Berhalter and Josh Wolff how it was at 1860. They advised me on many things. Also Steven Purdy, who I played with in Dallas and who was with the Loewen amatuers, had great things to say about 1860."
KCjr to press: "I want to help 1860 to gain promotion. How many goals I score is the last issue. Of primary importance is that we accomplish things together."
He will be managed by German national team and FC Koeln strikger Lukas Poldolski's agent, Kon Schramm
His girlfriend Molly will join him in September (just in time for the Oktoberfest thing so Molly better get a Dirnd'l).
KCsr to press: "I will be here three weeks and will help my son get his affairs here in order".

Posted elsewhere but would post here (http://www.tz-online.de/sport/fussball/tsv-1860/tz-interview-kenny-cooper-energie-geben-428194.html) too. Offenbacher did a decent translation job here (http://www.tz-online.de/sport/fussball/tsv-1860/tz-interview-kenny-cooper-energie-geben-428194.html).

I didn't know Alexi Lalas' son played on your team. He's on the bottom right, sitting next to Emilio Estevez' son. They look like they really hate the home kits.

Like stated earlier, his Deutschesprache is not bad. Has good command of the gender and verbage). Needs lots of practice, but ahead of the curve over Clint Mathis. That will go over better with Ewald Leinen if any of you recall his brief time at Hannover. 'Ole Clint didn't think to put real effort into his language skills, it hurt him along with some ill advised hand gestures and sent him home quickly.
Heck, I review the Rosetta Stone lessons prior to traveling to Germany. I think this is a great addition for TSV and has been in the works for a while.
Kenny should fit in well at the Gruenwaldstadion training ground. He is in mid-season shape and as long as he keeps his ears open, mouth shut and 100% into training, he'll see a start or at least a substitute entry into Spieltag 1.
Love to see TSV get back to 1 Bund and hope Kenny can ,make a great contribution. If so, he'll improve and be a bigger force for the Nats!

Garry is like Kaiser Sosay from The Usual Suspects. You hear stories about him, but you are never really sure he exists. When you think he is around... *poof* he's gone.

Well, even Lienen and Stevic have been quoted as saying skills-wise he should fit right in, but as you and I know the Germans have a TOTALLY different idea of "fitness" than MLS. Remember Donovan's comments after his training at Bayern? As fit as he is even *HE* acknowledged that the German training style nearly kicked his ass. :D

As for starting him, I somewhat hope they don't. I hope they put him in the last 45. That sends a nice signal to everyone that he is not a Messiah and that Lienen trusts him enough to let him play cold. However, if we are losing, then chuck Roesler and put KC in. :D

LOL...nope...I was over left a bit and up to row 26...so on the other side of the red/white strips. Actually, I was sitting in 117, row 26 because the "stripes" were covering our seats. My kids were hanging out to the left in front of the other field gate right behind the goal and right next to the fan block there. But DAMN you have good eyes, woman. :D
