What the hell was going on here?
I think that was a hug.
Seems we could not lure a new sponsor, so we found an old one. LiquiMoly (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/aktuell/news/2009/news_2009-07-29_liqui-moly.php) will be our sponsor again. Sad, but our new kits will look like shiite with that logo on it.
They signed a two year contract. The kits will be ready for the team this weekend. Still no sign of the new away kit.
That doesn't look so bad, problem is that jersey looks better than the current one.

Again, beggars can't be choosers.
I hate that "Evonik 'pur pur'" crap BVB wears, but since no one is offering more.......

I think they should just use last year's away design again. I thought that was all right.
BTW Garry, doesn't the bottom of the article you linked say they will wear the away jerseys in the Cup match against Paderborn?
I guess it will be seen then.

Yeah, I meant to point that out.
Rumor is they are going to keep the green/black verticle stripe thing they originally showed in June. Should be interesting. NEver seen new kits from 1860 so close together. Erima just redesigned them last year and they sold BIG TIME. Maybe Erima senses pent up demand.

Lauth was appointed the new captain of 1860 and not just filling in for Bierofka while he's out. Do not know how I feel about that., Am glad he is taking over since he was basically captain half of last year anyway. But if I were Lauth I would only take it on a temp basis and give it back to Biero when he comes back. But that's me. Kiraly and Torben were elected "deputies". Said Bierofka, "Benny is the best choicel, the fans identify with him and there are not many other alternatives."
I know Biero hold Benny in high regard. Clearly, given the team's new make-up, Biero does not think there are many others who can step up.

Benny is without a doubt my favorite current, healthy, player. Hands down.

And as you stated in another thread, Lauth's play improved greatly with that armband. Why screw with a good thing?
I'm sorry, but I feel a guy who can't stay fit, even though it isn't his fault, shouldn't be captain.
I respect Bierofka for the way he's taking it.
Unlike some other guys....... (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/512071/artikel_Amanatidis-total-enttaeuscht.html)

If '60 was my favorite club, I think I could tolerate the home shirt. I wouldn't buy it, but I could tolerate it.
That away shirt is just hideous though.
Garry, do you reckon they really believe people will buy that shit?
I'm also a Philadelphia Eagles and Glasgow Celtic fan, so I have nothing against green, but that is just horrible.

You had me chuckling.
:D
1860 must have lost the merchandise people with style. FC Koln's jerseys are ugly this year, but the merch looks very good.

I don't mind the home kit but it is FAR inferior to the first white/blue home kit they did last season. That thing sold BIG TIME.

Do not know why they redid the away kit. The blue/black from last season sold pretty well too, as away kits go. Hell, I think the old away kit was real sharp. These were MUCH better (http://www.footballshirtculture.com/200807061629/08/09-kits/tsv-1860-munchen-08/09-erima-football-kits.html).
Might be that they wanted to get rid of all remnants of the Reuter/Kurz/Wolf era. If this is Stevic/Stoffer's idea of fashion then, well, it sucks!

Well, the kid is 19 (http://www.abendzeitung.de/sport/tsv_1860/122523) so he does not come with much experience. Let's see what he can do on the pitch against real teams. So far he has done okay in the test matches, but can he take the pressure of 30,000 people and their irrational expectations?
He plays striker, so not sure why we bought him with the likes of Mlapa, Schaefler and other young strikers who have promise. My hope is we would have increased our defensive capabilities.

The game is in Paderborn tomorrow. Coming of a promotion from a tough 3.BL last season, I expect them to be very psyched to play Sechzge. According to reported I am hearing, Lienen could go with as many as SEVEN new players on the pitch. They would be potentially: Gabor Kiraly, Charilaos Pappas, Radhouène Felhi, Aleksandar Ignjovski, Florin Lovin, Ardijan Djokaj and Alexander Ludwig. Honestly, I would have no problem with any of these except Djokaj and Ignjovski...the former is just not proven yet and the latter is too young/new to the squad, IMHO.
The formation will likely be posted tormorrow, but if I had to take a bet I would say it will look like this:
- Kiraly -
- Rukavina - Ghvinianidze - Felhi - Holebas -
Lovin - Ignjovski
Pappas Ludwig
Lauth Roesler
I think it is piss poor form leaving Bender on the bench for Ignjovski. If Lienen is using the DFB cup as a "test match" he will get the ire of the fans BIG TIME. I know he is trying to focus on promotion, but you HAVE to make it out of the Cup for the $$$.
It should be an interesting game.

Yeah, I dig the blue and black ones too.

I don't think it is anything that sinister Garry. I think they just know they've probably sold all the blue and black ones they are going to sell.
I think someone thinks that shirt will sell.
Remember those yellow and white shirts BVB came out with three years ago?
They were ugly as hell to me and the fans bitched and protested, but somehow it was the highest selling Nike Dortmund shirt.

========= 8 Ignjovski ======= 24 Lovin=============
=== 17 Pappas ======================= 18 Ludwig ===

Bench: 12 Tschauner (Tor) - 4 Hoffmann, 6 Beda, 20 Camdal, 21 Kaiser, 22 Bender, 26 Mlapa, 27 Schäffler, 31 Djokaj, 32 Lushtaku.
So....just how THIN is our defense? I have underlined our natural defenders. Anyone else would be a Holebas-style convert. Good going Stevic....4 strikers on the bench and only two defenders.

According to this "Bild" article (http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/zweite-liga/2009/07/31/1860-muenchen/loewen-holen-us-rakete.html), 1860 are in talks to bring the player pictured below to 1860.
http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/zweite-liga/2009/07/31/1860-muenchen/cooper-12875008-mfbq,templateId=renderScaled,property=Bild,width=465.jpg
Yes, that is none other than FC Dallas' KENNY COOPER!!!
The article quotes Cooper's agent Kon Schramm as saying:
"Yes, negotiations between 1860 and me are on-going. Kenny is predestined to come to Germany and he is a player like Gladbach's Rob Friend.
However, I see where some at Transfermarkt.de is trying to call this old news and they say 1860's offer was already rejected by MLS.
Garry?? - Eddie??
