Ardijan Djokaj (http://www.fussballdaten.de/spieler/djokajardijan/) will sign a one year, performance-based contract with 1860. The 30 year-old last played for TuS Koblenz for two season, lst year only seeing 11 games and 1 goal.:rolleyes:. The season prior he had 26 games and 11 goals. He has played for two teams in Turkey and Koblenz since 2005/06. Before that he was with Red Star Belgrade (you think they would change their name, huh?).

Wow....a 30 year-old player with 11 games and 1 goal under his belt is our back-up choice as a new signing!!!!???? I'd prefer Schaefler or Mlapa. This guy HAD to be thrust upon Lienen. Cannot believe he would go for such a mediocre guy. Hmmmphh

Ok....basically a WHOLE new set of players to get to know. I will highlight them both from what I have seen or know about them. I plan to keep an open mind and give them 5 games to show me the money. Why just 5 games? Because Stevic has placed such an emphasis on bashing Reuter/Kurz/Wolf's relying on youth rather than retreads and has-beens as a method for building the club. I EXPECT youth development to take time. I DO NOT expect experienced, seasoned players to take that long to "fit in". Stevic's own words were that "experienced players know what they need to do and can integrate faster into a team. They are, after all, professionals." Hmmmm, ok Herr Butt-Face, let's test your theory. I cannot wait for the excuses later this fall.

Gabor Kiraly: Should be one of the easiest positions to "fit in" and given his experience he should be able to impress right away. I think we will find out exactly how good of an acquisition this was within 5 games. He will either obviously "have it" or not. If not, I PRAY they use Hofmann and not Tschauner.
Antonio Rukavina: While not new to the lineup he is technically a new player. I expect more from him this year and that he becomes a rock back there in defense. He has shown leadership and is a strong player. I would like to see more attack from him as well. His health will be key.
Radhouène Felhi: I have not seen him play but by all accounts he is settling in just fine. I hope that Ghvinianidze can learn from him and that they both stay healthy. I can forgive a few miscommunications back there, but not too many. He is a seasoned defender AND International. I expect much from him.
Aleksandar Ignjovski: Don't know the guy and have not seen him play, but those who have say he is very much like a defensive-minded Bierofka. He is supposed to be very strong and tenacious, with a fight that lasts 90 minutes...one of the things I have criticized the Benders for early last season as lacking. I hope he delivers.
Alexander Ludwig: He appears to be good on dead ball situations and fairly creative. As long as he is not as lazy as Roesler I think we have a good signing here. Again, health in this position will be key as our depth is not there.
Tarik Camdal: One of our U19s who Lienen saw fit to bring straight to the pros, skipping the U23 side. This kid has the potential to be another Gebhart. If Ludwig or Bender go down, this kid will likely see time....and a lot of it. He's not bad, but has not pro experience...and as anyone who has played semi pro ball can tell you, there is a HUGE difference between U19 play and the pros. BIG difference!!!
Sandro Kaiser: When you see him you will think "Bender kid?". Nope, but he looks like he could be...plays like it too. A U23 standout, Sandro has much potential and 1860 signed him to a multi-year deal to secure him. Again, no pro experience but the potential to be another Bender.
Florin Lovin: After all the hype, I expect HUGE things from this guy. If they are going to bench Aigner for him, I expect to see speed, endurance and overlapping like a 8 month old Labrador puppy. Anything short of that and the money spent is a waste. After Kiraly, he is my money bet to disappoint. Hope I am wrong. Right now I have that "Lovin" feeling....I don't want to lose it.
Charilaos Pappas: Third on the list to potentially disappoint. Lienen talked this guy up BIG TIME. HE better be all that AND a bag of chips or the fans will turn on him. His target needs to be 7-10 goals to take the heat off of Benny.
Peniel Kokou Mlapa: Another U19 prospect brought straight up. He did have a few U23 games but not that many. He is tall, strong in the air and fast. Think: Black Schaefler.:D This kid also has great potential. Will likely be used as a sub. Do not expect much from him other than promise.
Those are the new signings. The "Kader (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/teams/profi_kader/2009/)" is posted for you to see their pics. Let's hope Stevic's way of managing the team works. I am not ready to vilify his approach yet....but I DO have my Photoshop warmed up.

And they wrote about this as if he's going to be some big help.

I'll tell you what. I'm trying to organize a group of people from here at the Marshall Center to attend the first home match and I think the only player on the pitch I will recognize will be Lauth!

1860 won 1-0 and by many accounts played well. The communications appears to be working right now, but hard to tell when the chips are not down yet. Seems Ludwig and Lovin were doing some nice creative work and that Felhi had decent control of the back line. Evidently finishing was still an issue with Pappas and Schaefler (I can hear Keith now) missing easy chances. Several players were missing for various reasons, though no new injuries reported....so far. Aigner was listed as "injured" though no report on what it is and it happened before the match. Sorry dude, I should have told you. It's the Heimatabend they do every summer just before the 1st DFB Pokal match. They usually have plenty of tix available though most Stehplaetze. More pics of the event (http://www.merkur-online.de/sport/tsv-1860/giesinger-heimatabend-erlebten-fans-fotostrecke-meta-422584.html;jsessionid=44710F7FE0953A099EC580BA21CFF9C3?popup=media).

Two funny things happened. The FC Bayern team bus was "stuck" at Canadidplatz right on the corner of the stadium just as the fans were streaming in. The boos were loud and long until the bus got the hell out of there. :D Second, the 1860 team bus was forbidden from double-parking behind the stadium by the police so they had to off load the team very fast before a cop (most likely a Bayern fan) forced them to move.

For those who do not know, yes, living in Muenchen CAN BE that political. :D

Have any of you seen Holebas play defense yet? I'm a bit concerned that he might be getting forced into a role he's not familiar with, which would lead to many errors, which being on defense could be really bad for our keeper.

I always thought he was a superthin, semi-undersized speedy striker/attacking mid, so seeing him on the backline makes me wonder what's going on...

Otherwise, I can't complain too much about the offseason, other than some of the kids getting sold off - but that always happens regardless of managment. I'm also hopeful that the club elections coming up in September give us a much better top-level management team.

I've been pushing for 1860 to get more active in transfers for years. May not be slow and steady building up, like Reuter did, but maybe we have a few guys who can step in and play.

Nope, have not seen him play there beyond those pre-season games on eyeptv where you cannot see too much. I share your concern. I am alwaysw wary of strikers converted to defenders. Time will tell.

Slim to none I would think. :(

This Kicker article (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/regionalliga/startseite/511972/artikel_Messis-Cousin-steht-vor-seinem-Debuet.html) says that 20-year old Emanuel Biancucchi is poised to finally make his debut for 1860 II.

Of course "Emanuel Biancucchi" is known to everyone in the German media as "Messi's Cousin". :D

Yes, the FINALLY got the issues of his visa taken care of. I think that is another reason they did not go more aggressively after a few AM's this summer; they expect him to be on the first team rather soon. I cannot wait to see what this kid can do.

Just like everything else in life.

Who knows? Maybe he can do it.

But I also know not everyone can be a Clemens Fritz.

Remember, when he was at Karlsruhe as a youngster, he was one of Germany's top-rated young strikers.

I forget who converted him to right back, Leverkusen or Bremen. But it worked out. He made the national team as a right back.

...seems to be the sign hanging out in front of Stevic's office these days. Now, after all the crap about "youth" not being the answer BUT saying that Michi Hoffman was "too old" to be the starting keeper (or even a back-up), Stevic seems to have reversed himself yet again.

If you recall, he got rid of several players based on the "too old" arguement. I am fine with that AS LONG AS you CONTINUE to hold to that line. The minute you start making exceptions you lose any remainind credibility. Well, Stevic immediately started brining in over 30 has-beens to see if they could help 1860. The latest? Rumor is he is looking at Hertha striker Christian Gimenez (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/2898/christian-eduardo-gimenez/profil.html) (34 years old) who had 11 goals in 2006/2007 season. THREE YEARS AGO!!!!!! And then he went to Toluca where he played a year and then was let go....and they paid 2m for him for one year!!!! Then he went to play in Switzerland last season.

Really Stevic? A 34 year-old striker who has been VERY spotty over the last 4 years?!?!?!?!?!?!? Now, I would not mind if we were talking someone the likes of Icke Haessler or Martin Max, but this guy????

Another rumor is that we are looking at former Fuerth striker Cidimar (http://www.fussballdaten.de/spieler/cidimar/). Now, the guy has only scored 12 goals in the last 3 seasons, but he's GOT to be better than an obviously over the hill Argie, no?

I still say Lauth/Schaeffler is potentially our best striker pair based on complementing abilities and skill sets.

Garry, people thought Gimenez was already "over the hill" back when Hertha signed him.

He was one of the more dangerous strikers in the Bundesliga the second half of that season.

You seem to forget that his is the 2. Liga we're talking about here.

1860 isn't going for the Champions' League title here man.

The youth vision is over under Stevic and believe it or not, there are some guys over 30 who can still play the game.

I doubt this guy would be a long-term solution. Just someone to aid in the promotion push.
