From the Ledger story:

From Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz, after his team was shockingly eliminated by Monaco in the Champions League quarterfinals last week. -

I guess having to be associated with the Metroscum qualifies as hell.

Would Carlos Queiroz come back to MLS after he gets fired two month from now? I heard LA and C-Crew are calling.

Let's run down Queiroz' career: NJ Metro Stars, Portugal 2002 and now the most talented club team on the planet and prolly in the history of soccer. All 3 disappointments.

C-bus can have him...

the top 10 most-hated spectator sports: 1, dog fighting. 2, professional wrestling. 3, bullfighting. 4, professional boxing. 5, the PGA Tour. 6, the PGA Senior Tour. 7, the LPGA Tour. 8, NASCAR. 9, Major League Soccer. 10, ATP men’s tennis.

I guess this poll was taken before the Wimen's tennis match on Saturday that pre-empted half of the San Jose/Chicago game. Honestly, I can't believe that any kind of tennis isn't ahead of MLS.

"Venezuela is the only nation in South America never to have qualified for a World Cup. "--NY Times

NY Times making up stories again. They must mean that Venezuela is the only CONMEBOL country never to have qualified for a World Cup, as Guyana and Surinam have never qualified either.

So should we say "Millwall have qualified for Europe and Asia" rather than "Millwall have qualified for Europe"? They could end up in Israel or non-European parts of Turkey or Russia, theoretically.

I'm not saying he hasn't coached some pretty disappointing teams, but don't blame him for Portugal in the 2002 WC, he wasn't the coach.

Anyone notice this?
Anybody (with the exception of college players) who wants a shot at being noticed by the Crew can participate in the third annual open tryout May 8 at the team’s training center in Obetz.

There will be three sessions starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m. The cost is $50 per player, with proceeds going to the Crew’s Kick for Kids Foundation. There is no preregistration. For information, call Mike Lapper, director of soccer business development, at 614-447-4141.
