Bradley: FIFA should outlaw artificial turf (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=AoP1r5WBBg53tsJEJEy8gUgmw7YF?slug=ap-us-bradley-turf&prov=ap&type=lgns)

I guess this means no qualifiers at the Metrodome anytime soon :)

But isn't this going to be moot after this cycle, isn't San Jose getting a new stadium?

I wouldn't be surprised if their new stadium had turf also.

They do need to get out of this turf business. North Korea had their match moved at the request of Iran because of field issues, which I'm sure were not nearly as awful as Saprissa's.

just look at the number of slide tackles vs. Hond and then look at @ CR-you can probably count it on one hand. Mastro and Rico HAVE to slide.

I wouldn't say the new stadium in CR won't have turf, it is part of a big home field, they may continue that.

Yes, lets blame Canada and other third-world countries for our shortcommings.

BB is not one to be controversial so this is interesting to see. More power to him though.

I don't know that I'd say FIFA should outlaw it entirely, but they certainly should periodically re-certify fields after they are first laid down. There's no question in my mind that the surface at Saprissa has deteriorated significantly from when it was first certified.
