I'm curious how everyone rated Casey above Altidore. Casey played a good if not spectacular game, and Altidore was disappointing.

I don't know bro, I didn't see spectacular out there. I thought he did well all things considered. Altidore impressed me with his work rate, putting constant pressure on the opposition whenever he could apply it.

Howard - 6 : His usual steady self, no chance on the goal, but no spectacular saves either
Bornstein - 6 : About 2 higher than any LB in 2009
Boca - 7 : Steady work, no lapses like Weds, terrific effort on the goal
Gooch - 7 : Dominant, and great play moving forward when Honduras gave him space
Spector - 7 : Shutdown defense, great work going forward, about two steps ahead of Hejduk or Wynne at this point
Mastroeni - 4 : Poor passing, defensively impotent, generally useless, overall negative influence
Clark - 8 MOTM : Most effective defender in midfield, best linking play between defense and offense, overall excellent game
Donovan - 6 : Much more active and involved than Weds, but is out of his element trying to cross from the left
Dempsey - 5 : Better passing, but the failed trickeration at midfield is almost unforgivable. A finish on Feilhaber's ball would've redeemed it.
Altidore - 6 : Still looks rusty on his touches, but no other USMNT forward is as strong holding off defenders.
Casey - 6 : Offered a lot of what Ching does in making space for Jozy, but much faster and more dangerous on his own
Subs
Feilhaber - 8 : Should have had a gorgeous assist (blown by Dempsey). Completely reinvigorated our possession and offensive flow. Welcome back.
Beasley - 5 : Generally ineffective, incapable of playing the quick one-touch game players like Jozy, Feilhaber, and Donovan prefer.
Demerit - 6 : Solid work on the back line. Wish he'd get more time; Boca and Gooch can't play 90 every single night.

I'm more surprised by Dempsey getting average or above average ratings. He had some horrid moments and was disastrously bad on the play that lead to the Honduras goal. He had the nice back heel to Spector, but the goal he gave up and the goal he failed to score on the Benny chip would have left him the goat is we didn't take all three points.

Tim Howard - 7 - solid
Jonathan Spector - 6.5 - tried to push forward
Oguchi Onyewu - 6.5 - solid night
Carlos Bocanegra - 7 - great goal
Jonathan Bornstein - 6 nice effort, but he needs to up his game if he wants to compete at a higher level
Ricardo Clark -5.5 - played better in second half with competent partner
Pablo Mastroeni - 4 - made a lot of mistakes in the first half
Clint Dempsey - 6 - needs to learn that his moves don't always work. also needs to learn to put his shots on target.
Landon Donovan - 6 - did better than against costa rica, but is still capable of much more
Jozy Altidore - 5 - he needs to get more playing time at the club level. he was definitely off.
Conor Casey - 5 - didn't do much, but to be fair he didn't get great support
Demarcus Beasley - 5 - he did alright when moving forward, was a little iffy at the left back spot again
Jay Demerit - 6 - filled Boca's shoes the best he could
Benny Feilhaber - 7.5 - lifted the attack and showed us why he has been missed. i seriously forgot that we had a player that could actually orchestrate the attack like he does. the best part was he took pressure off of the other attackers so that they could do their own thing.

It was an up-and-down night for Dempsey to say the least. To be honest, a 5.5 probably would've been more like it than the 6 I gave him. The giveaway at the center circle was really unforgivable, and from there it was up-and-down.

This.
Only thing id change is Mastro to a 4.5, he has really stagnated for me., and 5 for dempsey. That choke was unforgivable, as was the goal he was responsible for

I can't do 6 is average. 5 is average.
Howard - 7 read the long balls nicely and importantly
Spector - 6.5 good -- not completely in sync, but solid
Onyewu - 7 I like how he gets fewer call agaisnt him now when his mark jsut falls down
Bocanegra - 8 goal bumps him a notch, very brave stuff
Bornstein - 5.5 a real improvement over beasly, but probably not the answer, play is too slow
Mastroeni - 5.5 not bad, but starting to lose that all important step
Clark - 7.5 really nice game, left some holes, but nice to see his calmness, probably just replaced Pablo in the pecking order
Dempsey - 6.5 nice agressive game, but downgraded for the boneheaded giveaway
Donovan - 7 schizophrenic, more agressive, nice to see him run at pace with teh ball once in a while; good pk, but geez, learn a little defense would ya?
Casey - 4 needed more from him
Altidore - 5.5 too many loose touches, needs games
Feilhaber - 6.5 -- nice comeback; why does he have to try the very low percentage threaded pass every time?
DeMerit - 5.5 -- a little too sloppy, but came in in tough situation
Beasley - 5.5 didn't look so good, but gets a tip of the aht for playing left back in the emergency when he must have necer expected to do that again.
BB -- 6 -- better lineup and subs -- Carlos saved him.

6 avg.
Howard: 7.5. A couple great plays away from the goal. Good in goal
Spector: 7. Got turned on a couple times, but played very well going forward and was generally solid in 1v1.
Onyewu: 6.5. Solid game, but loses a half point for overcommiting on the goal.
Boca: 6.5. Not the best first half, but an excellent second half and a great goal.
Bornstein: 6. Right on average.
Dempsey: 6. Either spectacularly good or spectacularly bad. He possession several times trying to take 3 men (one of which cost us a goal), but he also created his fair share of chances. Evens out.
Donovan: 7. Good solid match.
Mastro: 5. Not terrible, but definitely the worst middie. Below average.
Clark: 7.5. Not the best first 30 minutes, but he was the best player on the pitch for the last 60.
Casey: 4. Disappointing. Lost some balls that he shouldn't have lost, never really made anything happen up top.
Altidore: 6. Average game. Held the ball up reasonably well, was not terribly creative. Definitely better than Casey.
Feilhaber: 7. Fail for about the first 10 minutes but controlled the middle with Clark for the last 35. Created some great chances, played tough D.
DeMerit: 6. Bad mistake just as he came on, played a good last few minutes afterwards.
Beasley: 3. Everything went to pot when he came in. Did make a couple hustle plays, which is the only reason he isn't lower. Ball skills still suck.
MOTM: Roughly even between Howard and Clark. Tie goes with the Timmy.

I honestly wouldn't disagree with your assessment.
BTW, lots of people are rating Clark stronger than I did. I personally thought that while active, he was about as responsible for our ineptitude as Mastroeni in the first half. In the second half playing alongside Feilhaber (gee, does that tandem ring any bells?), he was 100% better, more assured, and effective. My call was basically a 5 in the first half, and a 7 in the second.
Donovan would've gotten a higher score if he'd have served in some better set piece opportunities until the one that scored and the one before it. IMO overall he was crap in the first 30 minutes, and then strengthened considerably. A few mins before the PK it seemed as though he'd mentally turned a corner.

Howard 7 Didn't make any mistakes---fast off his line
Spector 7 Solid all-around. I was particularly impressed by his touch and his combinations with Dempsey going forward
Onyewu 7 Solid
Bocanegra 6.5 Big goal of course---though Gooch was a bit better defensively
Bornstein 6 Not quite as effective going forward as Spector. Nothing impressive, but no glaring offensive or defensive errors either.
Dempsey 6 I'll give him credit for showing some pride tonight. After that horrible giveaway that led to the Costly goal, he played hard, stayed confident, and helped to generate a few chances. If not for that giveaway and if he had not flubbed tha chance from Benny, he'd be 8.
Mastroeni 4.5 Passing wasn't good of course. To make up for that, he needs to dominate defensively. He had a few good tackles, but not enough to justify his starting spot.
Clark 6.5 I think Clark did his job. He showed range and should have earned a pk with that nice run forward. Solid contributor defensively.
Donovan 7.5 My MOTM. He set the tone with his intensity and both forced and hit the pk. Worked harder than I've seen him work in a while. He even played a few nice balls on set plays.
Altidore 6 He made a pest of himself, worked hard. Needs to do better on set plays in terms of getting himself free. Held it up okay.
Casey 5.5 Not bad, but didn't quite provide what Ching does. He was more like another (slightly slower) Jozy than a Ching substitute. Needed to get that first half volley on frame. Not surprisingly a little out of sync with the midfielders in comparison to Altidore
Subs
Feilhaber 7 He didn't dominate, but he added some nice touches and had a great cross from the wing that Dempsey should have finished. Considering his difficulties in club situation and lack of Nats pt, he was very good.
DeMerit 6 Fine in his sub role---I like his ability to use physicality without committing fouls
Beasley 6 Showed some versatility and redeemed himself a bit after his disaster on Wednesday

OK, here are mine:
Tim Howard - 6.5 Out of position on the goal, stood tall second half
Jonathan Spector - 6 Nice showing defensively, better service, please
Oguchi Onyewu - 6 Occasionally scrambling. Out of position on goal
Carlos Bocanegra - 7 Goal and leadership, we needed both
Jonathan Bornstein - 6 Did fine, lacks composure
Ricardo Clark -7 All over the field, unusually athletic
Pablo Mastroeni - 5 Did fine, I'm glad Clark was left in at halftime
Clint Dempsey - 5 Nice assist to Bocanegra, his turnover led to 1st goal
Landon Donovan - 6.5 Nice pk, needs same focus on service, assertive
Jozy Altidore - 4.5 turnover machine, doesn't see runs, I hope he gets it
Conor Casey - 4.0 too many fouls, stupid yellow, too mechanical, worked
Demarcus Beasley - 5 versatile in brief appearance
Jay Demerit - 6 he did fine, certainly not the anchor Boca is
Benny Feilhaber - 6 adds a missing dimension

Bornstein 6 Not quite as effective going forward as Spector. Nothing impressive, but no glaring offensive or defensive errors either.
Which is basically a first for him, but I'm very pleased and, given our LB situation (or our fullback situation over all recently), I'll gladly take it.
