I'm in Chicago for the game tonigh and just got back to my hotel on the Miracle Mile after being at the Museum of Science and Industry and to do so I had to go by Solider Field on Lake Shore Drive.

There are Hondurans EVERYWHERE!

There's already a back-up on LSD near the stadium and EVERY car I saw was covered in blue and white and/or Honduran flags. Grant Park already had lots of Hondurans and walking down Michigan Ave. there are loads of Hondurans there, too.

Now, at the Museum I did see some fans in US National Team gear and it's possible all the US fans will be late arriving. But the way things are looking, this is gonna be a repeat of 2001 at RFK where the crowd was definitely pro-Honduras.

Let's hope this game ends better!

Hopefully the USSF makes enough money off of this game to pay for a new manager.

Shouldn't be surprised by this. Look at the last time we played Hondurus and decided to play in a big stadium. USSF has no brain.

For those of you who don't remember the 2001 game, this is from the Washington Times:

Honduras, Nunez shock U.S. (https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2001/sep/02/20010902-025147-5255r/)

U.S. Soccer faced tough criticism in The Washington Post this week for its attempt to create a home-field atmosphere at yesterday's game when it sold tickets first to American fans and left the upper-deck seats at RFK for Honduran fans. The U.S. policy failed badly.

Thousands of Honduran fans managed to get tickets and took up many of the seats in the lower deck close to the field behind both goals. The blue and white colors of Honduras were as abundant around the stadium as the red, white and blue of the Americans fans.

"For all those people complaining about the unfair treatment to the Honduran fans, they still managed to get 30,000 here," Arena said. "Those people who never walked-the-walk or talked-the-talk to criticize us is ridiculous."

That sucks to hear, but our guys have to deal with it..

For all intents and purposes, anything but a convincing win is a failure... Enough with the medicocrity, and excuses in general.

I commented on this a couple weeks ago and was told I didn't know what I was talking about.

Hate to say but I told ya so.

USSF hasn't learned a thing in 8 years.

I would be surprised if we were "outnumbered." From my experience going to games at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, the majority of US fans in general dont show up to games hours ahead of time, while alot of the "visiting" teams fans do, and make more of day out of it (tailgate, etc.)

USSF doesn't care which rain drops fill their bucket as long as it gets filled. It's all about getting paid - why only sell 20K at a SSS if you can get the travelling gate at 50K?

Who the hell even thought that we would be outnumbered?

The Honduran media had been reporting it for weeks, they kept saying that the Catrachos were scooping up alot of tickets.

Then ESPNDeportes confirmed it and I made a post about it and was promptly told that I didn't know what I was talking about and that ESPNDeportes had no credibility.

The Catrachos will go to great lengths to see their national team play and they're a very supportive and loud crowd.

We will not be outnumbered. It is the same thing every USA game I have been too in Chicago. The opponents fans sing and dance the whole game and the US fans come to their feet if the USA scores. If the USA scores you will see that we have far more fans. I was at USA/Brazil, USA/Poland, USA/England, and USA/Mexico here in Chicago. The only game you could say where maybe the opponent had more fans was USA/Mexico, but you just cannot tell how many USA fans are at the game until the US scores. No matter, the atmosphere will be good and I will be there.

This is 100% correct. I was at each of those games also and the place exploded when the USA scored. I remember Dempsey's goal against England and that place just rocked.

Their might be a lot of Hondurans about but it is 51 degrees and raining on and off.........smart people are at the bar drinking, or at home getting liquored up.

My guess is that it will be 60/40 in favor of Honduras but by no means a blue washout.

There are no additional style points. 3 points is 3 points. I'll take them any way the are offered. Qualify and then we can talk upgrade.

I wonder how much this hurts our performance, though. We often are outnumbered by Mexican fans with home U.S.-Mexico matches. I remember at least one game in L.A., it was 90% pro-Mexico. That was a friendly, but whatever ... Mexico always gets beaten when it crosses the border regardless of fan support, and we always lose when we cross the border. That seems to be the much bigger factor, as opposed to the fan makeup.
