Who to pair with Jozy: Casey or Davies

im honestly split on who i would prefer here, i think im slightly leaning towards Davies, but if Casey can emulate the Ching role in the Ching-Altidore extravaganza v T&T then im all for it. No question we'll get a healthy dosing of both so i suppose we will find out the answer sooner than later in the Confed Cup. But for tomorrows match, which would you prefer?

I agree or even at this point I would expect Bob to just go with what got them there the 4-5-1

That's a tough choice. I'll say Davies, I feel like he's earned it some more PT with the Nats, much like J.F. Torres has. Casey would be most able to fill Ching's role though, and from what we've seen, is a good tandem.

Not with Mikey and Mo and (hopefully) DMB sidelined. We are lacking in midfield talent right now- unless you are dieing to see the Mastro/Rico DM pairing.

Hopefully Bob ran them both out in practice today and will start the one that looked better. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see both start and Jozy a sub-- Jozy looked less than sharp coming off his toe surgery.

I should have expounded ...

Davies is (1) Physically strong and (2) has great speed! Also he has ability to (3) go at defenders and (4) create his own shot. In my estimation Conner only has one of these characteristics (1). While Conner may be able to do all that Chingy does, Ching, IMHO,
does not do enough.

That makes Davies > Casey!

Couple the aforementioned qualities with the dynamic nature of Jozies game and Charlie's familiarity with JA (Olympics, at least three training camps) I would choose Davies!

Personally, I think Landon Donovan (with Beasley back at LM) and Clint Dempsey (with Adu/Kljestan at RM) are both options to consider as well.

I think Jozy is better when someone else leads the line, and that means Casey.

I'm not saying he's a better player than Davies, just that he's a better partner for Altidore.

Jozy and Dempsey (Landon and Beasley at outside mid)

If Beasley plays left back then Landon must play left mid. Landon and Beasley work well together.

Bottom line is whoever Bob throws in there better hustle their a$$ off. We need energy and guys that want to lay it all on the line.

I hope Bob has the talk of all talks and installs great pride into the performance. Bocanegra, Donovan, and Howard better lead by example too.

Wow I completely forgot Mikey was out tomorrow... In that case, I'd like to see Jozy and Charlie. I'm not sure how well they'd work together though. We can't afford to waste time we need to score as quickly and as much as possible.

The Brand, I agree about Jozy and Charlie. This would be a reasonable choice.

The key is the midfield anyway. Without service our forwards will not produce.

play him on the wing or deeper in into the midfield with 2 in front of him... otherwise, it'll be just another game where we forget that Donovan is even playing.

I actually loved Deuce paired with Jozy! I thought they played well together in the Mexico match. I was impressed with their timing and understanding of each others abilities. Clint made space for Jozy. Jozy ran at and pass his defender. Clint was aggressive against the back line. And he even put one in the back of the net (Although Off Side)! If it wasn't for Drew "micky-frick" Moor we would have won that game.

I actually like Adu playing as the #10 off of Altidore's shoulder in the bucket. With Landon left and an aggressive Deuce on the right we could combo and over run the left side of their defense! Sounds good in theory at least.

Worked for the U20's. I don't see why it can't work for the senior team, Adu's lack of playing time be deviled.

Davies should start. At this point BB has to start the players that are willing to try over those that sometimes try. Casey=Ching and I'm not sure either bring much in an up tempo game.

If we can survive Pablo and Sunny boy's hacks, Davies should not be any more dangerous.
