Did anyone see this game? 3-0 up at half time. I was thinking "I hope they don't come back" and then we go out and score another 3. Who do you think will win promotion from division 2?

I was at Recreation Park on Saturday and when I heard the half and full time scores I laughed so hard.
It's hard to say who will get promoted. I think Airdrie have won the league now and Morton are still 5 points clear in 2nd place with 5 games to go. I think it will be close but Morton will just edge it.

1 stand, you've only got 1 stand!
It's hard not to see the funny side of an east fife fan laughing at your team. Morton will be in the first division next season. Hamilton will run us close but i still have faith. Hamilton were the better side by far on Saturday. But Morton have been the best team in the past meetings between the clubs. Pityful home support at the game i have to say, there were more Morton fans there, not enough pies tho :(
All the goals on saturday were defensive mistakes, or at least should have been defended better. If Chris Aitken can run through your team to score you know something must be wrong!
Morton seem a completly different side to what they were like earlier in the season. I can't understand it. Although we are in a better position than we were in last year at this time and we won the league! I wouldn't swap the excitement of these leagues for anything. They are hard to beat for drama!

Trust me those are the last thing residents of Greenock and Hamilton need, that and syringes ;)

I see Hamilton has one of those hideous council buildings as well. What were they thinking?!
Parkhead_faithful, and i'm sure parkhead is syringe free ;)

Nice to see that the weedgie education system has yet to introduce counting classes.
I can accept that East Fife are not a big club and that's part of the reason why I love being an East Fife fan. Morton though are so arrogant and it's always funny to see them fall flat on their faces.
Don't you think it's quite funny? I remember quotes such as "Morton: 2nd division champions 2004!", "We WILL win this league"
Also, to quote one of your moronic neds you call fans....
"Are yez, lookin forwart, tae winnin fu<k aw this year?"
"Morton will be in the 1st division next year."
I would agree with that but unless Cowboy can turn things around, big style, Hamilton may just catch you.
I am in full agreement with your last statement!

I have to admit, I think Morton will win promotion. It's just so annoying that Hamilton droped some awful points for example losing to Stenhousemuir and drawing with Arbroath.
To what Scottish Morton said about Morton being the better side when these clubs met, I disagree. The 2-1 game at New Douglas Park, Hamilton missed a couple of clear cut chances, and if I remember correctly, Morton scored the winner in the dying minutes.

Paddster, fair comment about the last game at New Douglas. So i'll change my comment to we have won or been the best team.
Gordon, you may be confusing arrogance with confidence. We haven't been used to winning so it's understandable if we're bad winners :D. It was not so long we were almost going out of business, we suffered 2 consecutive relegations, let us enjoy some happier times! Who didn't think we were going to win the league this year?! Fair enough we have some neds in the support but at least they're giving us some money instead of going along to castle greyskull or the tattie bowl like they usually do! I also have to say that new bayview needs some terracing, i wouldn't want morton in the spl cause i hate sitting at matches!
Will be some first division next year if we go up! Morton, St Midden, Partick, Falkirk and Airdrie all in the same league, let the good times roll!
One last point, I actually learned to count in nursary in Buckhaven :D

I know the difference between arrogance and confidence, I was guilty of both at times last season. Part of the reason why being top of the league is so great is that you can get it right up the rest of the league (as some Morton fans have done), just don't expect any sympathy on the way down.
I must admit that at 14 points ahead, I could not imagine anyone but Morton winning the league but now the league is Airdrie's I think, even if Morton win at Broomfield (which is highly unlikely), I don't see it being enough.
It must be great for you to see these big crowds at Cappielow but some of them really are scum who would not be out of place at an old firm game.
I agree that Bayview could be a cracking stadium if we put up some steep, narrow, covered terracing. I don't like the fans being so far apart, although I don't mind sitting too much, I would (like any proper football fan) prefer to stand. In saying that, Recreation Park must be one of the worst and most soulless grounds in Scotland.
The 1st should be an interesting league next season, although Morton will have to get their ar$e in gear to survive methinks. The 2nd could be ultra competitive too. If we replaced Morton and Airdrie with Ayr and Brechin. And get shot of Stenhousemuir and Arbroath for Stirling and Stranrear, we could have ten evenly matched, part-time teams.
p.s. Serious question here. Is it not gutting to lose the league (assuming you do)? Will promotion feel that good knowing that the league was all but tied up a couple of months ago?
You could compare it to us last season, although as promotion was never a given and we were 4th going into the last two games, I don't think too many people were disappointed that we didn't take the title.

If you asked me a week ago at this time i would have said i'd be devastated to lose the title. However, now after dropping five more points i'd just be delighted to be promoted. I think knowing from this point that the championship is beyond your reach and you now have a battle for 2nd softens the blow of not being champions.

See if Morton get promoted, can you not just see them going back down? It's the same for Hamilton, but I think Hamilton would be able to attract better players, I'm not sure, but are Hamilton in a better financial state than Morton?

Sorry Paddster but your thinking can't be further from the truth.
The big difference between Hamilton and Morton is that Morton are full time and Hamilton are part time. This is not just an advantage in terms of training etc but Morton, in theory, should be able to attract a much higher calibre of player.
Finances, Morton, in the last two season, have spent more on transfer fees than any other SFL team, as far as I'm aware. They have an £80,000 strike force in Williams and Weatherson. This is out of Hamilton's league, completely.
I think both teams would find it very difficult to survive in the 1st division with their current squads although whoever are promoted will undoubtedly strengthen. If Morton are promoted I can see them splashing out on a new defender and possibly a midfielder as well as picking up a couple of new players who go out of contract (Kenny Deuchar looks likley to be heading there). they are struggling up front at the moment but after the investment in W&W they have to hope they work in the 1st and I think Deucjar would do a good job for them.

Morton are in quite a good financial position. Not quite the big spenders as some seem to think but we do still make a loss. However, due to the sucess of the chairman's (dougie Rae) other sucessful company, golden casket, our debt are evened up by his earnings in the company. In a way he is in debt to himself. That coupled with having the largest support in the SFL right now leaves us in a good financial state. This would allow us to bring in some good players if we were to go up, like we did this season with weatherson, walker and greacen. Despite our poor form i think Morton would cope fine in the first and certainly better than hamilton would. There can be an advantage in being part-time in that if you get all the best part-time players you would be a good team because some of there jobs are too good to play football full-time. This is a rare case though, see QotS.

I wasn't sure who was in the better financial state, I have just recently started following Hamilton.

I think Hamilton were forced to go part time a couple of seasons ago because of financial difficulty. Although their crowds are around the 1000 mark, I think they lost a lot of support by being away from Hamilton for so long. If they maange to get into the 1st for a couple of season, I'm sure they would go full time again though.
