Steve Bruce has now come out and said the Valencia will definetly leave and now Bayern is also in for him now. That means Ribery is probably gone but I hope not to us.

I don't want Ribery either.
And as has been stated many a time on this board - Ballague is a complete fool.

Is it because you want Nani and other young wingers to get a shot? I think Ribery would be excellent with us.

Yup. I think Nani still has very much to offer this team, and could still be the best crosser of a ball we have. We'd also have a glut of wingers if Ribery came and no one left.

Real Madrid's activity is starting with the axe of Mijatovic and a bid for Valencia - I am guessing they will also try for Ribery, who would cost a bomb, and I doubt we would need him having Nani around who can still turn into a good player. I would say buy Ribery only if Ronaldo leaves, which I doubt.

RM cant offer for anybody at the moment, a candidate can but he isnt sure to win so the condition would be if he wins (unless he is Perez who is a guarantee to win).

According to Valencia's agent, not officially said by the club.

I feel the same way. I feel Nani is going to be a star as well. If we do make a bid for a winger, I'd hope it would be Ribery. But at this point, I dont feel we need to sign another winger.
Its looking like 4-3-3 is definitely a long term option for the club, and I feel that means Rooney can be considered a WF obviously. Then Wellback could play as one of the forwards in a 4-3-3.
Im still waiting for Adem Ljajic as well. I've only seen the youtube clips and been reading what everyone else has. The kid is 17 and already playing first team football, and to me he strikes we as someone who could play in the WF position as well.

Finally some common sense on this board when it comes to signing wingers. It seems that most United fans on various boards have this need for the club to be signing wingers all the time when we have a glut of players capable of playing out there. Even though no one is more United material than Ribery, we have way too many good/young players who will suffer less playing time.
I also think Nani is our best dribbler next to Giggs and our best crosser. We just need to help him mature and make better decisions when he does beat his defender.

It is good some of the support Nani is getting from us!

I am a big fan of his but I would like to see him get some time at right wing. I think he could do some serious damage with his crossing ability without having to cut back like he does when he plays on the left wing.

Actually, I think Nani is pretty comfortable crossing with his left. He's created a lot of chances from the left side of the pitch with both feet.

Ljajic plays like Gerrard so yes definitely can play as a wing forward, he can beat his marker and also got tricks.

Nothing would please me more than seeing Nani succeed, that guy got some talent.

I think he is ok on the left too. Just needs a run and confidence, and needs to be consistent when he does well for a game.
Go on Nani! Yeah!

Ribery would be cool, great player, but if Ronaldo stays and we play a 4 3 3, where would he fit?
Rooney is fantastic off the left, i don't think he could replicate that on the right. Ribery also prefers to be on the left. If anything, a top class striker is needed. If Hargreaves stays fit, we won't need another CM for a year or two either.

I don't really see a problem with playing either Rooney or Ronaldo upfront...

Still think Rooney is wasted as a striker. And playing Ronaldo upfront means one of rooney or ribery on the right. Neither are nearly as good on that flank.
Would be 30m for Ribery and an adjustion of the formation or 30m for a mobile striker. I'll take the striker

And which mobile striker would fit in the middle of Rooney and Ronaldo? We did get Berbatov to be that guy...

I am not sold on Nani yet. He gives up possesion too often and lacks the finish of his Portuguese companion.
Ribery would be the replacement for Ronaldo when/if he decides to move on.
Not too concerned, been a supporter for too long and have watched time and time again United rebuild the team.
