Well hopefully Bradley learned a lot from this game and we come out, play well and win. But I'm not so sure that will happen, Honduras is a very good team.

My gosh, this is NOT complicated. Root against Mexico and Costa Rica. Root for El Salvador and T&T.

This is pretty simple:

Saturday:
USA win over Honduras (a tie is virtually as devastating as a loss)
El Salvador win over Mexico (I'd settle for a tie)
Trinidad & Tobago win over Costa Rica (I'd settle for a tie)

Wednesday:
El Salvador win at Honduras (yeah right, anyway, once again I'd settle for a tie)
Trinidad & Tobago win at Mexico (once again, not gonna happen)

Is David Suazo in the Honduras side for the weekend?

What about Wilson Palacios?

[edit]
The internets is my friend. Wikipedia reveals that Palacios is in the side, but Suazo is not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honduras_national_football_team#Current_squad

But wouldnt that put T&T and ES on 8 pts....and make things more uncomfortable with US sitting on 10, CR on 9, Honduras on 4 and Mexico on 3?

Should we be rooting for ties instead?

All things equal, yes you should root for the tie that takes away a point, but you gotta feel that T&T and SLV can't keep up with the other four as the hex goes on.

Of course, if Mexico and Honduras can't beat them at home, maybe we wouldn't need to worry about them.

Since we play at home vs Costa Rica in the final game of the HEX, and since I have already accepted that they will qualify, I will be rooting for them to win every one of their games going forward. That way they can send a crap side to the US next fall where we still might need a result.

Great point.

I am on board.

suazo is recovering from major injury..

carlos costly in the concern...

i'd even accept CR/HONduras/Mexico getting draws, except in the usa-hon match..

BB is going no where...

nowak ain't there to replace him, you want who???

that'd be a complete panic move, the sort you see in central america...

ah, the problem is more the players NOT performing, but blame the teacher for students not getting the grade..

perhaps we hire lalas, so he can screw it royally....

although klinsmann might just like a trip to south africa, now and in a years time??

If the students aren't performing then you obviously get another teacher, or as they say in sports you can't fire all the players.

blame the teacher that's why america students suck in math and science compared to the rest of the industrialized world...although the teacher is a product of the same system, so go get teachers from elsewhere...

why should a new manager change the mentality of the current crop??

BB surprised me with his 11 on wednesday, people want to see more attack on the road...

put in more attack, and the defense falls apart...

We could have been successful with those players. But, the tactics were wrong and the players were out of position.

Bob did not prepare the team adequately and put them in the best positions to succeed. That falls on the teacher.

you want him to hold their hands out there??

when a team doesn't defend in the first minute, falls behind, it needs to persevere....and defend better as a team..

this did not happen...

possibly torres starting when he missed the camp was the main problem i had...

but NO matter the tactics, usa has never won there...

this time it was ugly, and players need to be held accountable....

This is pretty simple:

AGREE!

Saturday: HOME Team Wins
USA win over Honduras (a tie is virtually as devastating as a loss)
El Salvador win or draw over Mexico
Trinidad & Tobago win or draw over Costa Rica

Wednesday: Draws take away from both teams
El Salvador draw at Honduras
Trinidad & Tobago draw at Mexico

We shouldnt be rooting for the results that enable us to finish first after 10 games. We should be rooting for the results that get us to a guarenteed spot in the top 3 at the earliest point.

Since we have already lost to Costa Rica away, it is in our best interest for them to also beat everyone else both home and away.

So if CR beats TT, and MEX beat ES and we beat Hond

The table looks like this
CR-12
US-10
Mex-6
Hon-4
ES-2
TT-2

Then Wed we root for a ES win over Hond (not happening) or a tie. And a Mexico win over TT.

The table then looks like-

CR-12
US-10
Mex-9
Hond-4 (or 5)
ES- 5 (or 3)
TT-2

If we get to this point, 16 points would then be guarenteed no worse than 4th. 17 points would be guarenteed 3rd.

Now here's someone who understands how WCQs work.
