Per the U.S. MNT blog....
Conor Casey Gets The Call
Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey has been added to the USA's roster for Saturday's match against Honduras. The MLS Player of the Month for May has nine career caps, the most recent in the USA's 2-0 qualifying win against Guatemala on Nov. 19 in Commerce City, Colo.
Casey has been added as reinforcement pending the availability of Brian Ching, who aggravated a hamstring injury earlier this week and did not dress last night in Costa Rica.

How much would it suck for Ching to not get any playing time in the World Cup and now get injured and be left off the Confederations Cup team?
Man ...brutal.

A few of us have been calling this for a while. It's a good callup. I'd rather Casey didn't get integrated in this type of a match - much better the Gold Cup - but the guy has been a force in MLS and has earned a look.

Very good chance Conor will start if Ching cannot. Will allow the USA to get back into their comfort zone.

Casey is pretty useless without any wingers to cross him the ball.

Absolutely. This is a HUGE chance for him. We are desperate for points, Ching is out, and Altidore is likely gassed.
You may not get a bigger stage or chance to prove yourself before the World Cup Mr. Casey. Best of luck.

Hopefully Casey gets the start up top.

Na, that is wrong. He has done just fine with no wingers here in Colorado. Generally, Cooke is on the bench and the left is being swamped so Colin Clarke cant act as an out and out winger. He'll be fine. Better than Landy up top. He has a little bottle.

Bob wants someone Carlos can shoot aimless balls to. Finishing is a distant priority.

I like adding a forward who's mean enough and strong enough to bull through and get things done. He's been awfully tough this season.
I'd love to see more of that from Cooper. He's graceful for a big guys but he could use some of Casey's or Mathis' mean streak on the field.

This should tell us two things:
1) Ching is out.
2) Cooper has no chance of being on the WC squad.
Casey had been great this year, and good for him. I think he'll make the bench, but I'd much rather see Altidore and Davies up front.

Well, then your gonna be dissapointed, because Bunker Bob will go with his beloved 4-5-1 with CC up top in place of Ching.

Sure, he'll be fine as a target, which, as Nutmeg notes, is what Bob will use him as. But his goals nearly all come from headers.
