View Full Version : Spector not on the matchday 18?

Did Spector pee in Bob Bradley's cornflakes or date his daughter at some point? What does this guy have to do to get some respect from the national team staff? The guy plays in the world's best league (arguably), has played in matches at stadia much more intimidating than Saprissa, and has tons of talent and experience, but cannot even make the final 18??? Was he injured? Does anyone know of attuitude issues or difficult behavior/locker room issues from Spector, because it seems that he has a very hard time cracking the squad even when healthy. I can understand being on the bench with Frankie being healthy. But in this situation you had a young kid with no WC qualifying experience and what should be apparent to the staff, a terrible first touch, and he starts over Spector? Am I missing something? Honestly, I would love some of the real soccer minds on this board to analyze this. Thanks.

To answer Jonathan's mom's question, I don't think you will truly know the answer until you see the gameday 18 on Saturday. Let's see what is rolled out on Saturday. If he is not in there again, he either sucks in the coach's opinion or is not healthy.

I honestly have no idea.
Having said that,I don't think he'd have been much better than Wynne.
He'd have been much better than Beasley.

If Eric Lichaj, a first year reservist with Villa, makes the final 18 and Spector doesn't, either he does something BB really hates or was banged up. I wish SecondStarRight would fill us in.

Yeah, because you'd have to be Spector's mom to think that a player who was seeing consistent minutes as a defender would have been a good option last night.
Good job, internet warrior.

I really didn't ask the question for more speculation. But thanks for your enlightenment. You can now go back to your cartoons.

Start a dumb thread, you get a dumb answer. All you will get is speculation between yesterday and Saturday.

I find Spector's lack of chances extremely frustrating.

If the thread is so dumb, why look at it? More, why respond to it?

Depends. If you behave, 2ndStarRight might come post here. And then we'll know with 100% certainty what happened. If you pull your head out of your behind, you can figure out how to get good information off these boards.
I'm in the camp of those who are upset over Jon's omission (unless, of course, he's hurt). The Spector camp was rightly angered over the DMB to LB experiment that started against T&T. Now I think we've seen enough evidence that such experiment only works against teams that will only attack us down the middle (and T&T did precious little even of that).
Next question is who of Bornstein, Pearce and Spector will get to start at LB on Saturday. My money is on JB - I don't think Bob sees what he wants to see in Jon.
FWIW, I think Jon would have been a much better choice at RB last night. He would have stayed at home more (Wynne drifts forward, relying on his speed to get back to cover) and his composure was more suited for that match. Still, DMB was many times worse than Wynne- I said pre-match that we should go with Jon at RB and John at LB.

he's a premiership player. One of only two field players in our arsenal. Says a thing or two about his quality. what the hell are we doing making a player that sees decent amounts of clock in the English Premier League of all places not even dress for such an important game. Zola sees something in him (kept him around even after cleaning house) but BB doesnt, go figure

Or, if you're really trying to maximize Wynne's strengths, use him in a 3-5-2 as a wingback with Specs, Gooch and Bocanegra as the three.
Off-topic, does anyone have an idea who 2ndStarRight is?
Like someone said in the player rankings, choosing who did worse between Beas and Wynne was like decide who got a better case of syphyllis.

1. Last night was an embarrasment for US soccer-worst display I've ever seen
2. SPECTOR IS 100% HEALTHY AND FIT
3. Will BB screw JS over (once again, I must add) in his hometown?

Thanks for the scoop.
So, not injured. There must be something else going on. I can't rationalize his exclusion not just from the starting 11 but from the bench as well. He's not a one position player. I always thought the best thing about him was his flexibility. What a great bonus to have a player who could slot into one of 3-4 positions if necessary. RB, LB, CB, even played at holding midfield for WHU. Someone tell me what gives?

The bigger issue is whether he was in the 18, in case something like last night started to happen. The fact that he wasn't in the 18, while healthy, is absolutely pathetic. Thanks for the information.

I mean, WTF does Spector have to do to get a chance?
