I'd say Ronaldinho. His goal against England in Korea/Japan was amazing.

You'd put him on that list?

You'd put him on that list?

I would. His free kicks are amazing. He's not in the top 3, but he's up there with some of those on the list.

Veron and Mihajlovic might deserve to be included as well. Mihajlovic was once the best free kick taker in the world. Double digit goals in Serie A two years running! Age and injuries have slowed him up (to the point where he's a fairly poor defender these days), but he can still take a free kick. In fairness, though, neither Veron nor Mihajlovic is in the top 3 either.

Glad to see that you included Van Hooijdonk. Arguably the best free kick taker in the world, and certainly the most underrated.

ah yes, Roberto... I guess I put him there by popular demand... even though I don't think he's even in the top 30 personally......

Yeah, but he hits them really really hard.

When they go in nobody ever has a chance.

A year ago, I would have voted Beckham. Case closed!!! Something is wrong with him in the last 4 months. Now, I wished that he will never touch the ball when Real madrid got a kick inside his range. Let Figo, Zidane and Roberto Carlos to do it. BTW, I am a Real Madrid fan.

Roberto Carlos can shoot at the range that no one else even attended to try.... I know it usually ended with nothing, but it made the goalkeeper and the defenders very nerivous at a distance where they should be defending a cross or a pass.

what it is, is selfish, pointless, and for show. he should be trying to set up teamates but he would rather kick the ball really hard to nowhere of importance

Replace Totti with Michael Ballack and take Henry off for Vandervaart.

The most consistent target man is Alessandro Del Piero no matter how you look at it. You cant really blame him for being soo consistent and percise, afer all he was taught by Baggio. However the best stride goes to Beckham, he has such grace with his strike, its literally uncomparable.

If I had responded to this thread thread 4 years ago I would instinctively chose Rivaldo him being one of the greatest freeckick takers I or the sport has ever seen. Because of his unfortunate stint at Milan, most people forget the wizardly performances he gave the Camp De Nou.

I agree - Assuncao belongs up here. Mihajlovic no longer does; his free kick form has been off. A couple of years ago, he was the best in the business, no doubts about it. To have more than 10 goals off of free kicks is simply phenomenal.

If Beckham won the 'Greatest FK taker of all time' Poll, then surely it's fairly obvious he's going to win this one as well :p

I have to agree about Mihajlovic once being the best. I remember him scoring a hat trick on free kicks a few seasons ago.

An article in the last CHAMPIONS issue voices that opinion also.

as everyone knows..this freekick was miskicked by ronaldhinio..he was AIMING there? yea ok ...he wanted to cross that ball into the box. and also seaman shouldnt let that go in!

but DAVID BECKHAM IS THE BEST FK TAKER EVER! second is roberto carlos because there is no other player who scored as many goales as he did from that long range FKs!

but still i love ronaldhinio! BRAZIL IS MY FAVORITE NATIONAL TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!
