Re: St. Louis story ... if women's basketball didn't exactly "let its light shine." Duke and Alana Beard were eliminated before the Final Four.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

But really -- Geno's hardly the "light." His empire will soon crumble. He ain't getting the recruits any more.

This year, Geno's freshmen included two Parade All-Americans (a 1st-teamer and a 3rd-teamer); next year's will include two more (a 1st-teamer and a 2nd-teamer). If only Ray Reid could recruit like that ...

More Chivas USA updates (actually from April 7th and 8th) ... Vergara is apparently in New York this weekend to finalize things with MLS. The team will begin to train in May. (Maybe MLS will finally have a team that's seriously engaged in player development.)

Si la ciudad sede es Los Ángeles me parece que no vamos a perjudicar al Galaxy, al contrario, podríamos tener una rivalidad muy buena, con ellos apoyados por los gringos y los centroamericanos y Chivas por los mexicanos

... talking about the possible rivalry with the Galaxy ... Mexicans on one side, Gringos and Central Americans on the other.

But he lost Jessica Foley (to Duke), 2003 high school player of the year (IIRC) Brittany Hunter (also Duke) and 2004 high school player of the year Candace Parker (to Tennessee). And he was a sore loser in each case.

And he was a sore loser in each case.

Not the only one around here. :D

Another article for those who read Spanish, on the strong start by Arturo Torres. "Morally rooted to this side of the border, Torres has set out to wear the US national team's jersey and is working towards that goal."

The guy just won three straight national titles. I think it may be a little premature to be predicting his doom. However, him losing out on recruits is something that's going to happen. With the growth of women's basketball gone are the days where the toughest team UConn would play all year would be its bench.

Anyways in reference to the article which started this conversation. What the hell was that guy's point? It's amazing to me how poor some of the writing is out there in Media World. I suppose it wsa that rivalries are what really drive a sport? In terms of Chivas USA.... it's been discussed time and time before but I don't think we need to be playing on racially motivated rivalries.

As Condi would say, "That's a very, very, very, very, very big can of worms."
