Jinky's Charity CD Single Release

Date: 21st June 2004
Location: UK

Jimmy Johnstone, Celtic's Greatest Ever Player, charity single is
released on 21st June 2004.

The single, which aims to raise money and awareness of the condition
Motor Neurone Disease, is expected to become a bestselling record
because of Celtic's worldwide support.

Jimmy said: "So little is known about this dreadful disease and what
causes it, so I wanted to raise money for care and research into MND,
and to help raise awareness."

The double A-side features Johnstone in a duet with Simple Minds' Jim
Kerr, covering the Ewan MacColl classic, Dirty Old Town.

World-famous band Simple Minds recorded the song with football legend
Jimmy Johnstone during the filming of 'Lord of the Wing', a
biographical film documentary about the Scottish footballing great.

Shane MacGowan wrote the second song, 'Road To Paradise', which
features The Rolling Stones horn section The Kickhorns, in honour of
his boyhood hero.

The third song on the CD, entitled Lord of the Wing, is performed by
John McLaughlin, the Scots songwriter who has written lyrics for
Westlife and formed the boy band Busted.

All profits will go towards the Jimmy Johnstone motor neurone disease

Children's Hospice Association Scotland and Radio Lollipop
