The BMLS Commissioner has ruled the following, final format for the 2002 BMLS:

- 12 week season, 4 weeks playoffs.
- BMLS team scores one goal for every 10 points scored by the corresponding NFL team. This makes ties quite possible! For example, if the Lions beat the Vikings 27-21, this would be scored as a tie: Detroit Express 2, Minnesota Kicks 2.
- playoff rules have already been firmly established, the commissioner will detail them in a forthcoming announcement.
- There will be home field advantage in the playoffs to higher seeded teams. The advantage is that the home team gets the win in the event of what would otherwise have been a tie.

SEASON BEGINS SEPT 5th!

come up with an answer for how some teams will have played more games than other teams yet?

oh well, i thought the touchdowns-for-goals thing was a great idea.

it corresponds very well. a field goal in the nfl is taken only when they get close to scoring a touchdown but don't quite make it. this would represent a scoring chance in a soccer game that was close but didn't result in a goal.

and 12 games is just so short. i am down for using the entire regular season plus the 4 weeks of pre-season to get it up to 20 games. :) and yeah, everyone plays the same number of games in the pre-season, except there were a couple extra games early on that you can discount.

but hey, i guess you can do what you want. it will be more like you posting about your own thing rather than something we can all participate in, though.

I think the Hall of Fame game and some other game. At the beginning of the pre-season. Look at the schedule at nfl.com.

detroitexpress, I think jmeissen is right. You'll get a lot more interest in your game if people feel like they are involved, rather than having the rules dictated to them.

Okay, it's a deal - you guys run it.

I'm already running a league, and I don't want another one. My point was not that you should let someody else run it. The point was that you should be willing to accept input from the people who are interested in participating. If you don't want to use touchdowns as the scoring mechanism, even though the majority of your would-be participants have expressed a preference for that method, then at least explain why.

I saw that you explained you don't have the time to use box scores, but that explanation came after you had decreed that you were going to use a 10-point system. I actually think the 10-point system would work well, and it would create more soccer-like scores than the touchdown system. My critique was more of your management style than the substance of your proposal.

Anyway, I decline the invitation to run the league. I hope you will continue with it.
