Five sent off in Copa Brasil match


RIO DE JANEIRO, March 18 (Reuters) - Five players were sent off as Fluminense, once again without veteran striker Romario, drew 2-2 away to Juventude in the Copa Brasil.

The red card festival began when Juventude defender Mineiro was dismissed in the 24th minute for a vicious tackle.

Juventude striker Michel and Fluminense defender Rodolfo followed for fighting two minutes before halftime in the second round, first leg match.

Corinthians goal was okay, Fortaleza's - no comment, except that I hope the referee really couldn't see what happened on that "fault"... However, I think Fortaleza should have been attributed that "second" goal...

Yes, they were. (Sigh!) Corinthians did play much better last night, though, compared to their last few games, but I think that may be more due to the relative strengths of their opponents...

Well,thanks to the away score,Santo André still in Copa do Brasil.

And yes,is a common criteria,but I really don't like it...btw,I don't remember a final being decided by awas goals,but semi-finals yes.


And about a easy way to Palmeiras...I don't think so.For me Santo André will kick out Palmeiras and get to the final.Like Brasiliense in 2002...cause no one can believe in Santo André,and this is a important thing to analyze...IMO final will be Grêmio or Flamengo x Santo André.

Corinthians wins the 1st leg with an 8th minute goal from Jô. Corinthians controled the match from the start. The crowd at Pacaembu sounded good. Vitória will try for their 13th consecutive home victory in the 2nd leg next week. For his part Pedro has predicted a victory for Vitória.
