A-League Televising Campaign

Plan- To e-mail Rogers Sportsnet as much as possible (plus other media forms) until the Canadian A-League teams get the media support they should.

Goal- To help all Canadian A-League teams get the media support they should and for Sportsnet to show a Canadian A-League game a week. We will not and should not stop flooding Sportsnet with e-mails until we get our way. We also have to push that A-League teams get better media support from other media forms such as newspaper or radio. This might be a long shot but I believe it can happen if we send enough e-mails so Rogers Sportsnet realizes that they should be shown a Canadian A-League game per week.

Toronto Lynx’s
The Toronto Lynx play in the North American A-League and represent the highest level of pro soccer in our country. We are going into our eight season of showcasing fine soccer action in Toronto and are proud of the progress that we have made in establishing sound foundations for the future growth of pro soccer in our city. Pro Soccer in North America however, still faces many challenges when compared to other traditional North American sports. We are steadily making progress in gaining support from all sectors however, there is still much work to be done. We encourage soccer fans to make their voices heard in asking your favourite media outlet ( whether television, radio or print media) to cover professional soccer in Canada as a whole which includes all 5 A-League Clubs: the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Edmonton Aviators, the Calgary Mustangs, the Toronto Lynx and the Montreal Impact. Media coverage has been identified by a KPMG study as one of the missing critical factors for the success of pro soccer.

We would further recommend that you lobby your politicians in asking them to apply more funding for elite soccer players, for the building of soccer venues and for supporting pro clubs which are the backbone of strong National and Olympic teams. Write also the Canadian Soccer Association and provincial associations and ask them to support their local pro team.

If you are a fan and have contacts in the business community encourage them to sponsor the pro teams. The business community readily supports youth teams but hesitates in their support for the pro club.

Most of all, if you are a fan, come on out and support your home team...

Sincerely
Nicole Hartrell
Owner/Chief Operating Officer
Toronto Lynx Soccer Club

We can make this happen, as long was we stay determined to complete our goal and demand respect toward all A-League teams from the media.
