My indoor place is currently closed as they upgrade 10-year old AstroTurf (with little or no padding) to SportTurf -- the stuff with the simulated blades of grass.

Has anyone played on this indoors or out? How's it play? Like grass? Better or worse on skin than traditional turf if you go down on it?

Also, the manager said they're going to suggest people go to studs/cleats, rather than flat shoes. What are your experiences?

it is similiar to astroturf in terms of ball speed, but the bounce mimic's grass. if you hit it hard, it doesn't hurt that much since the pitch is covered with little bits of rubber. however there is a chance of burning a part of your body on impact or if you go for a tackle.

i would go with trainers (turfs/indoors) or something with the hg plate. the studs on a hg plate are relatively smaller, but give a good grip.
