Soccernet had:" Hunt, who also owns the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, attended the meeting for the MLS and said the league has narrowed its search down to seven or eight cities for its 2006 expansion."
The Houston Chronicle mentioned that the Astrodome had been proposed as a home for MLS. The reference was in an articles about Houston being dropped from consideration for the Olympics.
Other reports from the meeting between Hunt and OKC people said they WANT to expand by 4 teams by 2006.
On the NAS list, someone talked to a League Official who said there would be stadium announcements soon in NY and DC. This does not even include Dallas, where negotiations continue with two cities.
All we can do is wait and see, but it's starting to look up a lot.

A year ago, we thought that two expansion teams in 2003 were possible, both with soccer specific stadia included (Milwaukee and Trenton).
A year ago, it looked like the Fire would be building a stadium in Arlington Heights and that a MetroStars' Harrison stadium announcement was "forthcoming."
A year ago, MLS had 12 franchises.
Less than a year ago, the McKinney Stadium seemed like a done deal.
Less than a year ago, John Kluge was the MetroStars investor/operator.
My advice, don't count those chickens....

Seems like it. I'm in the Chi-town area and I've never heard of it. Anyway, getting back to the point, I agree with Sachin. More is said then done. Talk is cheap; more needs to be done if ya ask me!

Yes, take it with a grain of salt. But - don't give up hope, though, either. It's nice to get the possibility of good news once in a while. Something to have faith in, I think. Look at like this: at least you all have teams to go watch and support. I have believed for a few years now that there are larger trends of many types that make it highly likely that soccer will build momentum here, and not just to get it's own hunk of airtime on sportscenter or have the heart and soul marketed out of it like the other sports. the wonderful game is much bigger than any one player, or any nation for that matter.
keep believing...and it will happen here. the only thing that matters is the game, not the hype (like the other sports).

not in the US...all the other main line sports don't have to believe, because they all "arrived" at 25 years ago if not twice that long. unless, of course, we're talking about stock car racing whose soul officially died a generation ago at least when it prostituted itself beyond the point of no return.

remember, perhaps, when the driver earnhardt died at daytona a year and a half ago? that was stock car racing. their level of merchandising and hypre-sponsorship noise is beyond shameless.
